official annoucement at e3 then?

I have a hunch they will be smart enough to not make it open world, since then it'd be stepping on Ghost Recon's toes

I think almost everyone in human-existence, even those pre-dating video games (and dead) are expecting Ubisoft to mess this up.

Exciting. I hope the new game will be faithful to the first game, which focused heavily on stealth. We don't need another action game.

This makes me happy. The first Splinter Cell was brilliant and I loved the stealth it provided. It made MGS seem kiddy with its hiding under boxes. I hope they go back to these roots with this new game. We have enough shooters, give me a really good stealth game please.

The thing I really like about the original is how it felt like a slow escalation with the player was getting a hole-in-box view of a bigger picture.

Sometimes less can give the illusion of more.

Was the same with the original Ghost Recon/R6 games as well. Like nibbles of a bigger pie, and it was great.

I'd be ok with Blacklist 2 or something more like Chaos Theory.

Probably gonna be an RPG where you have to grind levels so that you can KO people or ofcourse buy xp from the store.... sigh ..... started playing AC Origins recently and it's dumb as hell

Cool, I Recently played Double Agent on the X after they enhanced it, and it holds up well today after all this time. I just hope they get Ironside for this new one, I can get used to a different voice actor but Ironside owns this role as far as I'm concerned.

I second this as well. I still love the first Watch Dogs game and I barely could finish the second game. I want Watch Dogs 3 the most out of Ubisof and yes, make it like the first game this time around.

It was all bs as Ubi put out a tweet saying that is not being made, they called it a joke.

We all know Ubi are the jokes.

Take this however you please.

I'll wait to see how it looks before getting excited. After seeing what they did to Ghost Recon this gen I have very low expectations.

I just can't see it happening... do we honestly believe that Ubisoft in 2019 will make a proper SC game like Chaos Theory?

I just can't see it. But hope I'm wrong.

I hope they borrow a page from games like Thief and make the levels large and open, but not open-world like every other Ubisoft game seems to be these days.

Just a nice singleplayer game that's fun to play through multiple times. I don't need an online option or any "services" with it, just a well-polished game.

Back in the day Splinter Cell was one of the most popular games of the era, I think it really helped Xbox from falling on face.

I remember X-Play would often use the two player from Chaos Theory for funny skits. Those were the days.

We use to get this on TV for afterschool: (rewatching it now, it isn't as funny as I remember, then again I'm an Ex-Esquire Man now Woke Man)

Keep dreaming. Thief 1/2 has some of the best level design EVA and would frustrate newshits & casuals (you know, the ones UBI markets their games to) way too much.

Of course they're smart enough! It's going to be made by a multicultural team of various religious beliefs, mythological beliefs, scientific beliefs, sexual orientations, gender identities, ethnic backgrounds, economic classes, political allegiances, philosophical disciplines, sports team allegiances, dietary lifestyles, alcohol preferences, fashion & style sensibilities, musical & literary tastes, weight height & range of fitness levels, blood types, bone marrow types, breakfast cereal preferences, coffee AND tea drinkers, pharmaceutical preferences, tooth paste preferences, pet owners of various breeds, comic book readerships, pop culture memorabilia collections, board game players, card players, chess players, Backgammon players, shuffle board players, and fluent in Klingon, Elvish and time travel lingo.

How can it get any smarter than that?? :D

@saltslasher: Splinter Cell was actually the reason why I bought an xbox. I didn't regret it. Played and completed the game many times.

after blacklist flopped in sales there must surely now be a very teensy, tiny little glimmer of hope that ubi will go back to the series roots. ironside, pure stealth, interrogation, remote hacking, no forced action, no invisible walls, no collectables and upgrades... i would totally forgive their past decade of dross if they gave us a modern chaos theory

Not sure I'd want a new SC from the "new Ubisoft" who is set on making the same checklist open world game with different skins for all eternity. I think they might have forgotten how to make good games. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

You guys lack the Ubi humor (me too :( ): https://www.gameinformer.com/2019/05/14/update-ubisoft-says-creative-director-was-obviously-joking-when-he-announced-a-new

Perhaps mods should edit title and add in OP.

Yup, that's Ubi. They don't have any time or resources to work on anything apart from AC and Far Cry 26352.

Yes, I like it too. Cause it takes place in Chicago. Chicago doesn't get much love in basically in anything.

Now we just need a new Syfon Filter!!

....

I can't even remember hwo to spell it lol...

or why I brought that up....

In all seriousness I disagree that the first splinter cell was good I think it really came into it's own around the 3rd entry... so that's my way of leveling some of the anticipation that said

This series could be one to stick around a bit that's for sure.
