I have both and Phantom Hourglass wipes the floor with Twilight Princess, it's not even a contest.

Phantom Hourglass does the same job that Wind Waker did of making the kind of world that Zelda embodies. I understand that a certain part of gaming public are afraid to play cel shaded games and that's why Wind Waker was followed by Twilight Princess but in doing that it also lost a lot of it's charm. The cel shaded Zelda games have done a remarkable job of drawing you into that world.

Phantom Hourglass' story and pacing is perfect while I think that Twilight Princess was a bit labored in it's storytelling. It didn't have the same flow that Phantom Hourglass had. Even backtracking didn't feel as much of a chore in Phantom Hourglass.

I also think that as far as boss battles go Twilight Princess can't hold a candle to Phantom Hourglass. I think Phantom Hourglass has some of the best boss battles ever in handheld gaming history while Twilight Princess didn't match up.

It's a shame that the stigma of cel shading scares people because Phantom Hourglass is a title that deserves to be on a home console. Hopefully somewhere along the line there will be room for another cel shaded Zelda.

Its really no contest, Phantom Hourglass was much much better. Even though the wifi wasnt that good, at all, the story was great and the stylus controls were perfect. Liked it much better than TP, which I got bored of pretty quickly

I like them both the same. TP for it's great story and length and PH for it's elements.

Yeah I think that would apply also.

What I've found is that a lot of arguments involving score only concern what Gamespot scored the games.

I own both and Twilight Princes sis so much better in all aspects. But that's understandable since Phantom HourGlass is a "handheldlized" Zelda.

This isn't a very fair match-up anyway, if you want a realmatch-up, do a four-way that includes Ocarina of Time v.s. Twilight Princess v.s. Wind Waker v.s. A Link to the Past.

Why have all the old TP arguments come back? Its been a long time. In either case I never really followed PH is it 3d or more like the originals.

Phantom Hourglass doesnt look like it will be my thing. The reviews said it was a sort of dumbed down version of Zelda and was made with casuals in mind. The puzzles are easier, almost too easy.

It's not the cel-shaded thing, because I liked Wind Waker. I just heard that Phantom Hourglass feels like a step backwards in Zelda games because it has been simplified for handhelds.

Yes overrated everywhere. I say it was overrated here because I hear GS is all that matters on these forums.

PH was really damn good. I don't think the two really compare though, they're far too different. PH had the mos amazing puzzles I've ever seen. TP was just awesome.

I feel the same way. I cant choose a better one, they each offered so much in different ways that you cant really pick favorites.

If you have a DS, I recommend you getting PH. The puzzles are genious. If you get the game, I'm sure you won't regret it. Take it from a person who is a Zelda fan, especially one who was disappointed by TP...

If anything some of the puzzles in PH are harder than TP's puzzles :|

The temple of the ocean king alone trumps anything in TP in terms of difficulty (only thing that comes close is the Temple in the Sky)

PH is easy, but it is really fun. I thought it was a step forward in Zelda games (at least compared to TP), because it was unique. Also, the Temple of the Ocean King is somewhat hard.

At least rent it or borrow it from someone. :P

Twilight Princess sucked. It just felt like a generic adventure game that really brought nothing new to the series.

I have played both and i dont agree with you. TP is my no. 1 game of my top ten games of all time. PH is easier than TP. TP is lengthier than PH. PH is just a handheld game. Though i had more fun with PH. I'm not saying TP is better than PH. Both are great games and to me they're just not comparable. Comparing a handheld game to a console game is just bad. How about comparing PH to other handheld Zeldas like Minish Cap and ALttP,etc.

hey....thats what you get when a huge fanbase complains about the art style of the wind waker. You get a fan service zelda for the hardcore OOT nuts.

This board is pointless. We all know which one was better. Twilight Princess many hands down.JedioftheForce

Anything to back that up?

I mean weaker puzzles in Twilight Princess

Weaker Art style in Twilight Princess

Weaker story, direction, and pacing in Twilight Princess

Where do you see Twilight Princess being better?

Maybe in terms of lengh and number of dungeons. I mean don't get me wrong,I like PH better too. But don't act like there was nothing good about TP.

I wish TP was anything like OoT. Especially the design of Hyrule. I think that may be the main reason I didn't like TP was because the way Hyrule is structured and how it seem to have little to no people in the game.....

Oh me either, I'm not saying either game is bad

Just that Phantom Hourglass is the better of the two.

Twilight Princess is easily one of the most underated games on these forums. Not only is it the second highest rated next gen game on gamerankings(not including orange box which still needs to get some more reviews), it has been universally praised by critics.. hell, even gamespot gave it an 8.8 and great label.

I don't understand how people can say that zelda is perfectly embodied in PH but not TP. Zelda is about exploration and adventure, TP was perfect for that. It took you from firey mountains, to lakes, to forests and even to the sky. It had you sumo wrestling gorons, jousting, escorting a caravan, canoing, snowboarding against yetis, fishing, and the list goes on. Oh, and there is no question about which game has the better developed/more involved story.. TP of course. TP also hs far more to do in it, obviously.. As far as ease goes, i don't know what some of you are talking about.. Twilight Princess was surely not a terribly hard game, but PH is universally regarded as being ridiculously easy.. including inits puzzles.. though someof them are very creative, they are not hard in the least. As for back tracking, you have to be bloody crazy to say that TP is worse for this then PH.. the fact taht you have to revist the temple of the ocean king numerous times cements this.. which leads me to say twilight princess has far better pacing(most critics regarded TP's pacing as incredible btw).

There is no comparison between TP and PH bosses. TP bosses are on a far greater scale, it's really not fair. PH has some neat bosses for sure, but they are nothing compared to TP. Again, you may prefer PH bosses, but TP delivers more in this category. I wonder if people are also forgetting that TP had numerous interesting and unique mini boss fights too?

The only edge PH can legitamtly be given is that it takes much better use of its platforms hardware then TP does. Everything else comes down to preference.

I think the problem here is that people are mistaking their preference for a game with the quality of a game. Both are superb games regardless, but TP is not as bad as you people are making it.

EDIT: i also wanted to add something about the artstyle... this is completely opinionated. I personally preferred TP's artstyle. The twilight realm was incredible, and the characters were gorgeous. Why are grittier art stylesgetting so much negativitythese days? Also, PH's artstyle is the wind wakers, therefore unoriginal.. though it is still great.

I also want to say that i do not want to see another cel shaded zelda if its going to have this artstyle. Wind waker was great, but i've seen zelda use this artstyle too many times. WW and PH are the most obvious, were we can actually see the style.. but minish cap used this artstyle as well, but due to the platforms limitations it was harder to tell.. then of course tehre was four swords adventure.. people give this style alot of credit becasue its different from the style in alot of other games, but the zeldaseries has been overusing it recently. I also happen to really love the more realistic approach of both OoT and TP.. they are not ultra realistic, but they are detailed and less exagerated.. and that's not bad. What i want to see is a new style. TP is the first that has actually changed up the style since WW moved it to Cel shaded.. and i think its getting undercredited by those who love the style of WW.

Twilight Princess is better, because it has that feeling of "epicness" that PH doesn't have. Not technical limitations, but it wasn't presented very well.
