Twilight Princess is easily one of the most underated games on these forums. Not only is it the second highest rated next gen game on gamerankings(not including orange box which still needs to get some more reviews), it has been universally praised by critics.. hell, even gamespot gave it an 8.8 and great label.
I don't understand how people can say that zelda is perfectly embodied in PH but not TP. Zelda is about exploration and adventure, TP was perfect for that. It took you from firey mountains, to lakes, to forests and even to the sky. It had you sumo wrestling gorons, jousting, escorting a caravan, canoing, snowboarding against yetis, fishing, and the list goes on. Oh, and there is no question about which game has the better developed/more involved story.. TP of course. TP also hs far more to do in it, obviously.. As far as ease goes, i don't know what some of you are talking about.. Twilight Princess was surely not a terribly hard game, but PH is universally regarded as being ridiculously easy.. including inits puzzles.. though someof them are very creative, they are not hard in the least. As for back tracking, you have to be bloody crazy to say that TP is worse for this then PH.. the fact taht you have to revist the temple of the ocean king numerous times cements this.. which leads me to say twilight princess has far better pacing(most critics regarded TP's pacing as incredible btw).
There is no comparison between TP and PH bosses. TP bosses are on a far greater scale, it's really not fair. PH has some neat bosses for sure, but they are nothing compared to TP. Again, you may prefer PH bosses, but TP delivers more in this category. I wonder if people are also forgetting that TP had numerous interesting and unique mini boss fights too?
The only edge PH can legitamtly be given is that it takes much better use of its platforms hardware then TP does. Everything else comes down to preference.
I think the problem here is that people are mistaking their preference for a game with the quality of a game. Both are superb games regardless, but TP is not as bad as you people are making it.
EDIT: i also wanted to add something about the artstyle... this is completely opinionated. I personally preferred TP's artstyle. The twilight realm was incredible, and the characters were gorgeous. Why are grittier art stylesgetting so much negativitythese days? Also, PH's artstyle is the wind wakers, therefore unoriginal.. though it is still great.
I also want to say that i do not want to see another cel shaded zelda if its going to have this artstyle. Wind waker was great, but i've seen zelda use this artstyle too many times. WW and PH are the most obvious, were we can actually see the style.. but minish cap used this artstyle as well, but due to the platforms limitations it was harder to tell.. then of course tehre was four swords adventure.. people give this style alot of credit becasue its different from the style in alot of other games, but the zeldaseries has been overusing it recently. I also happen to really love the more realistic approach of both OoT and TP.. they are not ultra realistic, but they are detailed and less exagerated.. and that's not bad. What i want to see is a new style. TP is the first that has actually changed up the style since WW moved it to Cel shaded.. and i think its getting undercredited by those who love the style of WW.
