Did you seriously just link a steam controller as necessary for a PC build?

Not to mention that Steam cleared those things out for like $5 last month

@drlostrib: Hey, the PS5 will ship with a controller ;)

I love these threads. They are the classic combination of dumb, pointless and angry. I'll be reading every post :P

Use RX 5700 with RX 5700 XT BIOS instead. Read https://www.techpowerup.com/review/flashing-amd-radeon-rx-5700-with-xt-bios-performance-guide/8.html

Techpowerup used RX 5700 XT BIOS instead of higher spec RX 5700 XT AE BIOS.

All this talk of fancy new SSDs and you pick a SATA one? Not a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe drive???? No no no this needs an x570 motherboard and an NVMe drive.

Lol that Cylon case. Not bad for $50.

A console could never match the value proposition of a PC for me. Consoles are for games only, PC is for productivity and games.

A 3800X with a b450 motherboard? That shady external “UHD” drive, white RGB RAM, 650W PSU (consoles are sub 250W), and WTF is that case?!?!?!

This is what happens when a consolite tries to configure a PC.

you really have to love the insecurity that so often manifests in the console fanboys.

Consoles will never be as good as PC's, and they were never meant to be as good as PC's; that's why consoles generally cost <1/2 the price of PC's.

Just accept it and move on. There's a reason they have weight classes in boxing; stick to your own weight class or you're going to get knocked the hell out.

PS5's competition is not PC, it's Xbox.

3800x? More like a 3600 (non-x), when you compare it to the underclocked console CPU.

AMD's 9.2 Tflops are closer to nvidia's 7.2Tflop 2060S if you look at real world performance.

1TB SSD? Where do you get 1TB from? Rumor is that the SSDs in both consoles will act as "virtual RAM", aka page file, so expect them to be 256GB in size with 1-2TB HDD for actual storage.

Why even bother with a BD drive on a PC, when you can just stream shit?

Can get Win10 for $10.

No on is using Steam controller.

What do you mean by True cost?... The true cost is what it Sony and Microsoft pay to manufacture the consoles.

Also a Zen 2 chip at 3.5GHz is slower than a 2700... And a Turing teraflops are not Navi teraflops that 2070 S is competition for a 12 TFLOP Navi XSX.

A PS5 9.2 TFLOP is in between the performance of a 2060 S and 2070.

It would cost you $937 to match a PS5 today... 1 year from now when the consoles come out it will cost you 1 tier GPU cheaper so probably $700-750.

Also Bluray?... PC cases don't even have drive's any more.

Assumes what the PS5 specs are - Check

Goes on a misleading part picking spree - Check

Doesn't realize that people want more than closed box gaming - CHEEE-Yek

Yup, it's an anti-PC thread alright.

To be fair consoles still have them even though PC's don't. Console just don't support Piracy like PC does and I think anyone into PC would have gone all digital. Console haven't yet and not from lack of trying either.

That whole setup makes zero sense.

$539 - GTX 2070 Super (9 Tflops) - link

$108 - 1TB SSD - link

$85 - 4K bluray drive - link

$380 - Ryzen 7 3800x - link

$60 - 650 watt PSU - link

$63 - Steam controller - link

$99 - 16GBs memory - link

$85 - Windows 10 - link

$100 - AM4 motherboard - link

$50 - case - link

more like 330 buck 5700 we don't know the clocks or anything. It's most likely going to sit between the 5700 and xt. 2700s is faster, nvidia tflops are not amd tflops and will yield behind raytracing most likely if they even support it. big chance they going to offload it towards CPU which will choke it even harder.

And as those boxes release next year end of it, new gen of gpu's will be out that will reduce the price of this card even more or get replaced by same price far faster card to start with.

1tb ssd, first gotta see what ssd before u can even make a guess on that front and frankly there is no need for most people to even upgrade this because ssd has already been a thing since ages. So cost is zero. a nvme 2gb/s isn't going to outspeed a sata 3 ssd that most people got already for about 8 years now.

Nobody uses blu-ray on PC its useless tech.

Cpu wise, more like 2700 that's 120-150 bucks (8/16 ryzen ), cpu won't run at full clocks unless they make the box far larger then it currently is. it will have locked cores for security stuff like consoles always have. So its far weaker then a 8/16 pc solution. 3800x will streamrol those boxes and near year 4000 series will be there, a cheapo cpu will most likely outmuscle those boxes.

100+ bucks for ddr4 16gb? more like 50 bucks.

650 watt psu? more like 550 and 30 bucks instead of 60 bucks.

motherboard 46 bucks u can already get one for that ryzen chip.

windows 10? free, or 2 bucks. u don't even have to unlock it. It won't add anything. Most people don't even bother. Otherwise u can buy keys for 2 bucks everywhere.

Case? u can buy cases already for 20 bucks. no need to spend any money on it.

Controllers? keyboard mouse can be gained for 5 bucks each. superior towards console controllers that's a whooping 10 bucks.

So for current higher end PC gamers?

Upgrade cost? nothing

So for new PC gamers.

150 (cpu) + 330 ( gpu) + 50 ( ddr4 ) + 30 (psu ) + 46 ( motherboard ) + 20 ( case ) +10 ( controllers )

That's a whooping 636 bucks and another 50 bucks for a ssd. so 680. That's with everything.

Which gives u a far superior experience as u don't have to deal with lockdown consoles that u gotta beg sony to release stuff on. And u can upgrade whatever u want with it. It probably gives comparable console performance.

For people that need a upgrade from there current super outdated system?

150-330-50-46 and done. that's 576 bucks.

Sorry mate, it just isn't that special those consoles and u got like what it a year infront of those consoles to start with. price will only go down next year where if those boxes release at 499. It's exactly what u pay for.

1500 bucks if you already got a current PC case etc, will get u top end performance hardware. Those consoles are nowhere near that.

Then u got retail that sits in between with massive cuts on top of it over it.

PS5 will have superior Ray 4k traced motion captured cutscenes.

With the occasional minimal interactivity gameplay section interspersed.

Totally worth it.

Yet there's no hack for Xbone, PS4 above 4.55 or switch except on the first bunch of lots and even then only below 8.01. Xbox 360 is still a pain in the ass. PS2 is a pain if you don't have the right game. Anything that uses a cartridge you'll have to pay for a special one. Retail doesn't count as piracy either. I have no nonsense here I speak from experience. Only a tiny fraction of people do piracy for console compared to PC who has a literal website telling you when the pirate version is released.

Are you high? :-S

A Ryzen 7 and 2070 Super on one chip? Cooled by what, a fridge?

As for the SSD, it'll most likely have a small SSD and a HDD like Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

Must we do this every gen. The corners they'd cut to have all that crap in there. PS5, held together by toilet roll? Fans made out of left over yogurt pots, made earlier on Blue Peter? (reference for fellow Brits ;-)).
