I didn't agree with everything he said or done, he could be a bit of a dick to people, but mostly he was an alright guy.

Not the sort of person you would be friends with, but I would never hope he would die the way he did, I have some first hand experience of what cancer can do to people you care about and it's fucking aweful, as an outsider you never get over it what it must have been like for him at the end must have been fucking terrible.

The time for speaking shit about him has gone, you should have done it before he died, he can't defend himself now.

What a low life scumbag. I seldom wish for people to lose their lively hood but that despicable piece of dung would certainly deserve it. He also knows it, which why he changed the details of his twitter account and tried to hide the posts.

He was a dick, saying someone should get cancer doesn't make your "alternate" persona any less forgiving cause guess what, chances are you're still a dick. There's even proof he was a prick in this very damn thread but you know what, he didn't deserve to go out like that cause cancer is one of the worst ways to end cause it emotionally drains you and your loved ones tell you're a husk.

He had some horrible opinions imo. He also had some temper issues once in a while on the internet and didn't enjoy his content just because of that. But he was honest and pushed some of the industry in the right direction.

Honesty is massive in the gaming industry i enjoyed his podcast and watched a bit of his content over the years.

It went into remission in 2015, but then it came back a year later. When that happens, 96% chance you die in less than 4 years. Such an unfair disease.

Who was this person? I keep picturing Limp Biscuit and Fred Durst is not an easy image on the mind to have.

That's just fucking sad. I've literally never watched anything by him, but the dude was literally a couple years older than me, and nobody should have to experience that. That EA dude was a total bell-end... Divisive opinions are fine, but waiting until after he's dead... Dude deserves a shiv.

@LordQuorthon: Yep. I agree. I know that people say it was "something something ethics in game journalism" but mostly what I got out of it was people sending death threats to those they don't like. I'm STILL hazy to this day about what, exactly, was going on with that.

On topic, cancer's an absolute bitch. Didn't know this Youtuber but it's an awful way to go. RIP.

The so called "anti-gamer gate" brigade is full of despicable people trying to hide behind a false narrative.

I'm not sure how much of that article you read but near the end of it is this list

Gamer gate is and always was about ethics in gaming journalism and nothing else. These are exactly type of people gamer gate and TB wanted out of the media and the more they continue to stoke the embers, the more chance it has of bursting back into flames.

I have enjoyed his WTF series. RIP TB. While I do not agree with you 100% of the time, nonetheless, you will be missed.

Also because of him, Warframe became much, much, much more better for newer players.

The trouble is when you take on the media, they can use their resources to craft a narrative. One side was pleading it was about ethics in games journalism, the other side used all their resources and influence to make it about misogyny and women in games and painted the other side exclusively as basement dwelling would be terrorists. At one point The Guardian was due to interview a few women involved in the movement, one call from a few editors, and that was stopped. Next they are interviewing people about harrassment, people who have dished out more than their fair share themselves. That is of course when the anime avatars jumped on, and the conservatives, and the likes of Wu, and when I jumped off. We got what we wanted largely anyway and I never was interested in an online slanging match on twitter.

I've watched games journalism from the very beginning change from basically us, normal gamers who love the hobby to a bunch of woke hipsters from San Fran attacking games they don't agree with and pushing their friends walking simulators as high art. Of course there was going to be a pushback. If you review Doom, review it as an FPS, don't review it from the viewpoint of Jack Thompson.

Anyway like me TB said a few home truths at the very beginning and got out before the slanging match. He was guilty of nothing during this time. And going back years and cherry picking a few comments to attack a dead man is ugly.

He had bowel cancer and if I'm correct, I think I remember him saying he put off getting checked out for a significant amount of time 'thinking it may go away'. Please, if anyone is experiencing any abnormal physical behavior (ongoing for a few days plus without change) or you've noticed something, do not be afraid or embarrassed to get checked out. Doctors have seen it all. An early diagnosis of cancer increases your chances of surviving it dramatically.
