Wow its not often that I agree with GameSpot but I must admit in my opinion they got it right with Dante's Inferno and God of War 3

I thought that GS had heavily underrated Dante's Inferno giving it a score of 6.5, because I really did enjoy this game and thought it was a great piece of work, but GOW 3 out shines DI in absolutely every way possible. The Story, Combat, Graphics, Scale and difficulty levels are vastly superior to anything I expected.

I have not played GOW 2 in about 2 years so maybe I forgot how good the game really was and DI gave me a feeling of nostalger more then anything else. its a shame tbh because if DI had of been released at the start of the gen it may have been AAA.

Has anyone else that originally thought GameSpot underrated DI now changed their mind after playing GOW3?

While I agree with what you are saying.. I agree with some of there reviews but then the other 80% of the tiem I dont agree with them.

For example Metro is not a 7.5 and a 8/10, its a 9/10 for me personally.
Awakenings expansion pack for Dragon Age is also to low of score imo.

Perfect Dark remake on 360 is WAY WAY to low aswell.

Once in awhile Ill agree with gamespot but most the times I dont.

In the end they are opinions of ONE PERSON, so thats why I dont give much thought to review scores.

I have'nt tried DI, but I was stupid enough to buy Darksiders. And compared to that, GOW3 is a whole generation ahead.

Yeah I was not expecting metro to get a 7.5, I have not played it because I not got a 360 anymore, but that game did look great.

A another game that I thought should have been AAA especially at the time it came out was Heavenly Sword, It defiantly filled a gap in the PS3 library.

GoW 3 deserved a 9.5 imo. Its almost at the level of perfection. Dante's Inferno deserves a 9 as long as you put it down 1/3 of the way through, after that it slowly drops down to deserve like a 6.

no it wasn't. The gameplay in that is so pointless. The whole game is just pressing random buttons at different times to get to the next cutscene.

Heavy Rain isn't for everyone. Some may love it, some may find it very boring due to the lack of player interaction.

An interactive movie with thousands of different things that can happen from scene-to-scene and multiple endings and great graphics. And it easily has the best story in any game I've ever played. And once all is said and done, the game is incredibly engaging and fun for the 12 hours that it lasts.

I figured I'd wait to play DI after I got GOW 3. But after playing it and playing the demo I'll have to buy it after a massive price drop.

Well i tried the demo and aside from the weird voice acting, the movement control it did have was very cluncky.

I never played the Demo mate, but I can say I never had the same grips as you with regards to the final release. But as KH said it is really engaging, not everyone will love it but it's hard not to appreciate what the developers tried to achieve.

I agree GOW3 is a million times better than Dantes in every way. I do however, think tha GS severally underrated Dantes Inferno. Dantes should of scored at least a 8.0. IMO Dantes Inferno is easily AA quality.

I know a lot of the fanboys who've been blinded by their excitement will disagree with me or even, perhaps, track me down and skin me alive, but having played and finished GOW 3 two times and then some already, I think Tom was actually lenient with it. I'd have given the game an 8.5. Sure, there were epic battles, but the puzzles were extremely lacking and the plot didn't have a smooth flow imo. not to mention the heavy backtracking which we didn't see much of in the previous GOW games. All in all it is a great game which is up there with other great games, but I wouldn't place it in AAA status. but that's just me.

What are you talking about? There's always been backtracking in GoW. It's not even exactly back tracking, you just keep going and you pop up in a place you've already been.

I didn't say there was no backtracking in the previous god of war games, I said we didn't see MUCH of it in the previous games. GOW3 definitely took much more liberty than the previous two. Read!
I played the Dantes Inferno demo, and my hype dropped straight away. I didn't doubt GS on this one.djsifer01
I hate when people pass judgement by playing a demo, it dose the game no justice. Play through the game and i promise you will enjoy it.

Really? I totally hated the game after the Dis level, you guys actually enjoyed the "arena" challenges? And the "to be continued" is pretty much a major slap in the face considering how crap the last 1/3 are.

Read!

Well, i guess i disagree. There has always been as much back tracking. By the way i have other problems with the game. Invisible walls for one, and the darn thing keeps freezing my ps3.

I can relate with the freezing
I had to force restart my ps3 around 5 times just because the game would completely stick when I jumped down a certain pit with a red orb chest and an upgrade chest whilst having helios' head equipped. Worked just fine when I unequipped it.
invisible walls have always been a staple in most linear games so I'm not too bothered with that.

Mine just kept freezing anywhere and everywhere. It's gotten worse after i finished the game. And the invisible walls in other games are usually not so invisible as there is usually some cleverly placed object or wall there. The level that got on my nerves the most was
The level you had to solve the echochrome-esque puzzle. There was a chest that i had missed that was right there, but i couldn't get to it and the only thing between Kratos and it was an invisible wall.
