To gamers in europe: What games are generally the popular games there?

Ok.....so we all know all nations have culteral differances. The people of japan, along with people (not all people though) in other nations, love JRPGS such as final fantasy, dragon quest, etc. The people of america.......like madden, halo, and GTA. What types of games are generally the most popular in europe? Are the favored games a slew/variety from every genre? Or are all the favorite games things such as shooters....or rpgs.

Soccer.  GTA. And a load of war games. Thats about it.

Football, as people have stated, Gta's, Red Alert, Counter Strike.

Counter Strike definately, WoW, quite the same as everybody else. The major sellers.
