TLOU2 delayed "indefinitely".

Was afraid this was going to happen. Nobody will want to play a game about a pandemic in the middle of a pandemic, it seems. Or at least Sony is afraid nobody will. Sheesh.

What a disastrous way to end the generation for Sony and PlayStation. This game have been plague with problems and delayed many times even without the flu. With the way Naughty Dog were treating their workers, it’s karma biting bite. I expect the PS5 to get delayed too.

Anyways, I think the current events alone would have stopped people from wanting to buy it but for me, I already pre-order the digital version. The theme hits a little too close to home and there’s probably a large percentage of gamers who aren’t in the mood to play such a bleak game but this is all my perspective view.

That said, I was super hype for this game and now its delay for who know how long, I'll just go ahead and buy FF7 Remake in its place.

Edit: Who wants to place bets Ghost of Tsushima will be next cause that game releases this June 2020.

I've just got a bad feeling in general, not just with Sony/gaming industry, but just about everything involving the economy. I think things are going to get a lot worse than people are maybe expecting. Lots of bad signs from big companies, not to mention the sheer amount of CEO's that have stepped down recently. Crazy times.

With the huge success of Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I think video games is something we all need right now.

It's a shame they had to make this decision.

What "bad feeling"? Everything has gone down the drain already and we'll feel the impact only when things get back to normal assuming they ever do.

this is stupid because netflix can put every outbreak movie there is and it's the most watched movies on netflix right now. if people are flocking to watch those movies im sure people would buy last of us 2. i think it about the physical copies not be able to release at the same time as digital.

A lot of people seem to be dealing with current events by watching stuff on Netflix related to it (a lot of the searches were for things like Pandemic and Quarantine) and playing games like Plague Inc, which saw a surge in sales. Obviously not everyone is in the same boat, and people process things differently. However, the subject matter may well have been a key factor as to why it was delayed rather than simply logistics etc. I guess we're lucky that RE3 Remake & FF7 Remake is making it on time, even if it would have benefited from a longer delay in order to not cut a load of content out.

I remember Kotaku’s reporter had a tweet that after April, we were going to see a bunch of games get delayed because of all the pipelines needed for major releases that weren’t already done. (and that just makes sense) Wouldn’t be surprised to see Ghost of Tsushima get delayed soon too, and of course the longer it goes on, we might see Fall releases start to get delayed. But one things for sure, Next-gen consoles will release this year with no delays and both Sony/MS already comment on saying they'll release this holiday season.

Meanwhile Valve released on time with a game entirely taking place in a quarantine zone.

Has nothing to do with what's in the game but the fear Sony won't make as much as they want to from physical copies.

Pretty much, rather than bring joy to peoples life's (who don't have access to Youtube) they'd prefer to let them suffer, just to scrape that bit more money.

I suspected as much. MS will have powerful new hardware and Halo this holiday. Sony will have less powerful hardware and marketing rights to a cross platform shooter that per capita, sells better on Xbox. Might as well throw in their big gun in order to compete.

I always had a feeling this game would end up being a PS5 exclusive, and let's not kid ourselves about what's going on here: Sony is worried about Xbox Series X and they know they need all the ammo they can get.

Personally I don't care one bit because I wasn't interested in the game, but I feel bad for those who were excited about playing it on PS4 this year.

Just canceled my preorder. Guess ill wait for TLOU2 Remastered for the PS5.

This decision is nothing to do with people being put off playing the game because it hits too close to home. Pandemic has seen record number of players, and that game is literally about spreading a virus.

I think it's a combination of Sony worrying that people just wont have the same amount of money to spend as long as this crisis goes on, and them wanting it as a ps5 launch game.

I'm still not convinced either console will launch in 2020 anyway.

And in with the PS5...BC included :P

Incredibly foolish decision by Sony, They read the times all the way wrong on this one.

Because we are going through a situation very much like the subject matter in the game and the type of AAA production they've put into TLOU2, I have no doubt it would have without a doubt been their most sought after game ever made.

It would be the biggest smash hit they've ever seen because people everywhere around the whole world could relate. Talk about a swing and miss..

Sony really blew it on this one. This was the wrong call.
