Titanfall removing content, while adding in paid content

pretty sure A lot of MP games update playlist quite a bit...

and yes game modes do die! It can become pretty hard find games on not so populated game modes in any game

I played it today and for the DLC there was indeed one Variety game mode and one attrition game mode.

Perhaps that is also what this thread is doing: creating some backlash. But most of all I'm not okay with removing something people paid for.

I've been playing CTF since the early days of online FPS and I really think CTF in Titanfall was quite original because of the titans, the wall running and the ziplines. Titans could be used strategically as well as many other things.

If Respawn fixes the issues people are having as well as continue to improve the game, by adding extra loadouts for example, than people will return and more people buy the game. But if you scrap the game modes, you don't allow people to make those game modes popular again.

In the old days (when gaming was good) pc gamers such as myself played titles like Quake 3. In it, people created servers.

Within those servers you could do cool things like use mods and cast votes for server rotation, gamemode and rule sets.

Then consoles appeared.

The y have not cut any content at all, they just moved it somewhere else, thats what i am getting from this.

I never played pilot hunter, and I only played CTF once, but this is still surprising news.

Meh, no one plays Pilot Hunter on PC. I could never find a game in that mode.

Well, I saw some people who were really good on their own because they really made full use of their titan or knew the maps & routes really well.

I used to play it a lot with a mate and it's good when you're with two. I just don't know 11 people to play it with :(

I didn't see the point in Pilot Hunter. It was basically Attrition with some different point system.

Hasn't been the case of any multiplayer games I play. Like none, this is the first.

So I'm really surprised by this.

Wouldn't care as much if they replaced it with 2 other (free) game modes, but no, the modes are just gone and in its place is DLC Variety and DLC Attrition...

So if the 2 modes can still be played in private and variety playlists how were they "removed"?

You get more kills in Pilot Hunter since bots and Titan kills don't count towards the score. It was basically a mode for the babies crying about bots.

I see, but too me it was much to similar to Attrition because I never really cared if someone got 30-40 bots kills in Attrition, what mattered to me more were objective points(like CTF and Hardpoint) and K/D vs regular players.

Yes, there used to be a bunch of game modes. Now there are two less gamemodes.

I don't see how if you want to play CTF or Pilot Hunter you would go play Variety. There's only a one in 5 chance you get to play the gamemode you want to play. How is that an alternative :/

a blank disc has more content than infamous.

I haven't played Titanfall in over a month now, anyway.

That does seem lame, even though all I play it attrition.

CTF though, that was a decent mode. Even with Titans picking up flags it still had quite fun strategy elements and defensive / offensive groupings. Moving it to variety pack must be because lack of players.

I'm sure a lot of people quit. I haven't played in the last month either. But I was going to check out the game today, only to find out they had removed game modes.

They should try and lure people back in, not this.

Been spending most of my time playing CTF the last two weeks but if the player count is low then player count is low. No point in arguing against facts. Games do this all the time (see Halo).

I never expect much from games like this. These type of games really don't aim very high in standards both in gameplay or support. I guess the audience who consumes these types of games is not very demanding either quality-wise.

Exactly what I was going to say, it's stupid to remove 2 game modes from a game which only has like 6-ish to begin with.

I remember so many playlists being cut and added in halo 2 just because some simply weren't popular enough.

We don't know what they mean with low player counts. Could be a couple of thousand, could be a hundred could be two people still playing the game;

Could be the gamemode died out on their US server and in other regions it was still popular.

Eh might suck (they not really removing them from the game per say through), but can't say I liked CTF from the few matches I tried of it.

Huh. That's too bad, I like both those game modes.

Oh ... but they're still available in Variety Pack, which is the lobby I play from. I'm Ok with this.

So the title is wrong. And I agree with you that it is not THAT big a deal. But the idea that they should remove the option because of people waiting in empty lobbies is imo a mistake. Just check the server browser, you see that hardly a soul plays that mode so you know that it can take a while. There, no problem. If hardly a soul wants to play those modes it would have made more sense to remove them from the Variety loop, then to remove them as a separate mode you can pick.

sad times for gaming. "oh look its shiny"... but then so was Killzone and Knack.

Who cares if people are playing those modes or not?If anything they should just modify the modes and make them more interesting. Respawn & EA should be slapped upside the head for this bonehead move.

Yes I have. It's literally high vs ultra textures and nothing more.

I don't see the thread title being wrong.

Playing the game modes in these different ways is not the same thing.

Game used to have 5 gamemodes: Attrition, Last Titan Standing, Hardpoint, CTF and Pilot Hunter and one game mode that combined all of these modes. They also added 2V2 LTS later on.

They were also hyping the gamers up before release that full game would have way more game modes than BETA. It did... for a while...

And now it's missing 2 gamemodes: CTF and Pilot Hunter. People who liked playing those modes can no longer do so.

Yes, I'm glad for Xbox gamers too. Especially for 360 gamers because they have had the chance to check out these game modes for less time.

I just think this makes a dangerous precedent, and it tells me a lot about Respawn.

Even if a couple hundred people enjoyed this game mode, they should work on making them happy, not cutting them from the content they want to play.
