As you can see, even the greatest consoles didn't have an amazing launch lineup. The PS4's launch list is actually stronger than this, thanks to all the PC ports and indie titles.

It's just people firing pot shots at one another. The next two weeks are gonna be rough on these boards with all the crazieness.

But at the end of the day people like you and I get to play great games.

Such an awesome launch. Timesplitters was great. SSX, too. And I have a secret fetish for Armored Core. I miss those kinds of launches. Oh, and Smugglers Run...

Sigh.

EDIT: I had Ready 2 Rumble on DC, that was awesome too.

I'm sorry. Ps4 doesn't come close to that. Dynasty Warriors 8 released earlier this year, and was not a launch title. It would've stood a chance if that were to be the case.

I don't know. It seems like people are expecting blockbuster AAA titles at launch. I guess this is a result of how long last gen was. People are eager to get next-gen started.

I'm not worried one bit. I expected this from the launch and even stated it during our E3 podcats in June. The PS4 AND Xbone will be just fine.

The PS2 launch looks better to be honest.

But regardless, how does the PS2 going on to be a success after launch translate to the PS4 going on to be a success after launch?

We don't know what will happen in the next 5-10 years, but we do know that people aren't buying the PS4 as a "cheap dvd player", or for the exclusive titles like GTA, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, and the like, so it's idiotic to compare it to the PS2.

We can only look at what happens right now.

No need to lower you heads fellow cows. PS4 will decimate. Coming exclusives will be great, it's written in the prophecy. PS4 is the one to lead this industry to salvation.

okay, still doesnt mean there is any reason to pick up the console at launch... and yeah, that ps2 lineup looks a lot better.

Maybe people should spend less time hyping shit to the stars and have slightly more realistic expectations about their games.

Launch titles are really nothing to get really twisted over. 80% of the games were created on unfinished devkits and the games were planned with a target of a 4GB system. That being said, a lot of the indie titles seem to be scoring well. So, the PS4 launch should go pretty well.

PS2 & PS4 launches were/are fine. PS1 & PS3 launches were lamentable dreck. Even numbers are great.

The PS2 was the shit. I can't remember a console that I was so satisfied with. I still use mine to play Persona 4 and Front Mission.

people expect Triple A games all the time. Although I was totally convinced that Killzone SF would score at least 80+ on Metacritic. I mean, this looks sick!

To bad the competition was broke going up against Sony. MSoft on the other had has tons of money, plus they might have the game of the generation in Titanfal launching in March.

except in the case of the xbox dOne where you say that all games were in development for 6 years on finished hardware and will still suck.

Tekken Tag Tournament was the reason I got a PS2 at launch, and it is an excellent game.

The PS4 launch is alright as well; I'm not sure why people could possibly be concerned...

The PS2 has multiple AAE's and AA's along with one or 2 AAAE's at launch, with tons of advertising and came out swinging. You compare that to Angry Birds Starwars and indie titles.\?

That PS2 launch looks so much better. Would've been happy getting one day one.

ps2 launch had much more variety and was better...SSX was fantastic...Dreamcast had better games out though at the same time period

Right now, more than anything. I want a Wii U Wind Waker HD edition and Super Mario 3D World. Buying a system at launch IS ALWAYS THE WRONG THING. People never learn.

I'll get a Wii U eventually, but it needs more, more games before I spend the money on it.

Usually takes one great game to get me to buy a new system. I got my Wii with SMG, 360 with Gears, PS3 with Resistance. (I'll argue to the death that Resistance was da bombs.) 3DSXL with Mario Kart 7. PSP with Wipeout. Etc etc etc. (Great games are of course, IMHO.)

Yeah, buying a system at launch is a bad idea. PS3/Xbox 360/Wii/3DS/PSV/Wii U launches are all indicative of that.

As for Wii U, once it has Mario Kart, I'll have to go out and get one anyway, so it's only a matter of time.

Vita had a great launch. The problem is they blew their load too early.

Anyway, PS2 launch games was way better. for us sports fans, Madden 2001 for PS2 defined next gen. The game was 100% diffrent from the PS1/N64 version. NHL 2001 was fun aswell. SSX was solid. PS4 is full of ports.

While the PS2 launch was slightly better, the only first party title was Fantavision. None of those great first party games came around until later. Many of those other games would have easily been multiplats, had there been a worthy competing console at the time. While the Dreamcast was great for its time, Sega didnt really have much third party support.

Another thing to think about is game development was much cheaper during the PS2 days. You can't expect companies to dump $20+ million on launch exclusives when there is not yet an install base that will result in a worthwhile return.

Any real gamer knows not to judge a system by its launch, this thread really is unnecessary .The lems who are jumping the gun and calling the ps4 a flop just want to feel on top. with the hate that coming out for x1..I wouldn't be gloating about a few bumps for the ps4. Honesty lems are making themselves look foolish with the amount of unnecessary hate..Crying about the ps4 being wobbly and a few systems needing to be rebooted is quite pathetic.
