photorealistic commonwealth 0.6 is the best version
the newer versions are just not as good as the old ones.I have 0.6 tweaked for my personal tastes alongside with NAC.The game looks unreal at times.
You can make a turd more shiny...but it's still just shiny shit.
Indeed. Visuals cant mask the shit missions, story, environment, ai, lack of rpg mechanics, and performance.
I kinda think grim wolf enb looks far better than the photo-realistic enb, but that's just my opinion.

Well, you can always install mods that improve upon these things. And if you are having performance issues I guess your pc is either outdated or requires maintenance.

If I can play Witcher 3 on medium high with 55-60 fps, and this game cant run well, it's on them. It looks like crap, and runs like crap. And no, mods cannot solve most of the problems I listed. I installed around 200 mods into the game, and I still cant finish it.
@DragonfireXZ95: ^this.
These enb mods and texture enhancements can't change the geometry or the lighting model.
It looks fundamentally dated.
It's not next gen.... I'm sorry but that's a dumb way to look at it.
It's doable on current PC hardware. Doesn't that make it THIS gen?
It was as boring as Skyrim after the 40th hr mark.
I have over 300 hours in each game, and no, still not boring.
On topic, that does look amazing, but Fallout 4, while not the best looking game out there, already looks one generation ahead last gen Bethesda games.
Really wish I could get into the game more. Enjoyed the shooting mechanics, but everything else was just okay...

Please tell me what specs do you have. If you don't meet the recommended system requirements, you shouldn't be complaining about performance issues.

Fallout 4 is the only game this year what made me so frustrated that I rage uninstalled several times. I been this close to deleting it from my steam account a couple times too.
@mr_huggles_dog: yup, I played the game for 3 hours and put it down in boredom. Nothing innovative nothing fun to it for me. Base building and power armor were not what the game needed whatsoever. The game should have been immersive survivalism with branching storylines... like in New Vegas.
Looks like utter crap to be honest.
Looks washed out, white, those trees in the background look absolutely horrible. N64 quality background trees.
That rock in the background looks cell shaded.
Sure, that one road texture in the foreground looks nice. But the whole image, nah, that is not how real life looks in the slightest.

Is that your screenshot? If yes, what's your rig and framerate?
Yeah, that's my screenshot. I currently own a gtx 980 ti and an intel i5 4690k, the game works flawlessly on my system, as far as I noticed I always stay above 60. However, I do like to upgrade my cpu, but not specifically for this game, but another game, which is far more cpu intensive.

I dont know if it's frowned up here anymore but can you give me your mod setup?
I just got FO4 on the PC and wanna mod the every living hell out of it.

I personally would recommend sticking to the fallout 4 nexus, I honestly never use mods from bethesda.net. So if you are sticking with nexus I might suggest downloading the nexus mod manager and loot. Both are great tools make modding easier, especially the nexus mod manager cause you can use it to automatically install and remove mods without any issues and loot takes care of your loadorder. After that you can begin with the most popular mods. I changed my loadorder quite a bit since I last took the screenshot. So if you want to get the same look as shown in the screenshot, I suggest installing Commonwealth Conifers Redux, grassland (the experimatel version), and grimwolf enb. Don't use nac.esp (Photorealistic Commonwealth) if you want to achieve a similar look as seen in my screenshot.
Also ignore those perv mods in my loadorder, they are not necessary incase you don't want pretty females, same with lookmenu since it requires scriptextender, if you don't want to install that either.

But that right there is the biggest problem with Bethesda and there "RPG's". You look at stuff like Dishonored and Doom, and you can see the quality they can offer when they make a linear, story focused game. However, with big open worlds like TES and FO, they do only what is absolutely required and then say "It'll do, the community can fix it themselves later", which is a terrible mindset, especially when they also sell these games on consoles, where modding, while available, is far more limited.
Mods are great, and I'd love it if more devs started allowing us to expand our favorite games in this way, but the community should not be required to develop mods to fix all the bugs and make it playable, when we're expected to pay $40-$60 for games.

Exactly. That is kind of the way I feel about Ubisoft too, minus the mod issue. All of their open world games are essentially the same, poorly optimized, and buggy on release. However, I have loved their non open world games, like R6 Siege, Splinter Cell Blacklist, etc.

Having shitty hardware doesn't equal poor optimization.
@thepclovingguy: Poor optimization doesn't equal having shitty hardware.
When both my processor and gpu are well above the recommended specs, and I cant run a game near the settings it says I can, that is poor optimization.

@thepclovingguy: the game looks like shit to begin with so it shouldn't require a beefy system.
There are lots of better looking games (fidelity and animation in particular) out there that don't run as shitty as this game.
If the statements of running poorly are true.

I was playing it on a system I built for my cousin, which is more powerful than mine is. It had 16gb ddr4 ram, and intel 6500k, and a gtx 980. Well over the recommended, and it still ran like crap, despite looking like a game made in 2011. I dont get why people apologize for devs not even putting in the minimal amount of work needed to optimize their games. It's always "Well, your hardware probably sucks." I dont know, if CD Projekt Red can make a game that looks like the Witcher 3, optimize it greatly over an 18 month period, with a team that is the fraction of the size of Bethesda's dev team, the fault is most likely not on the hardware specs of the thousands of people who were getting 28 fps in the corvega plant in F04.

I am asking about your system, not the one of someone made up. Tell me your specs or stop complaining.

Many of the better looking games are neither open world games nor as moddable as bethesda games. Sure the witcher 3 looks thousand times better than fallout 4, but unlike fallout 4 its runs on a different engine and the mod support is quite meager for the witcher 3.
And as I said before if someone cant meet the recommended requirements, then they should not complain about performance issues.
Yeah, looks cool. Not graphics king or next gen shit, but cool looking nonetheless. But honestly I always thought the game had a decent enough look for being an open world wasteland.

Bethesda games can run like shit on any hardware, it's amazing.
