This gen won't have "playable movies", realistic looking games... maybe next gen... You can give me all pics you may have of Crysis, MGS4, Gears or whatever, when games are in motion the movement/appearence is either exagerated or lacking...

In example the lip movement in the Metal gear 4 trailer...or the crowd in GTHD( wich has very nice cars but everything else is not at the same level of quality)...

Just my opinion though, don't flame me for it... if I want your arguments it better have logic base, not just stupid fanboy hate...

crysis will be the closest IMO. but there are some games that don't have a graphical style that can look real at all. viva pinata for example. excellent graphics, but it can't be considered photo realistic simply because it's a different art style.

Actually, I prefer Art-Stylish games instead of "realistic looking" ones, mainly because the latter usually isn't all that good...

Don't get me wrong, Gears of War is a really beautiful game, but the way the characthers move and speak isn't realistic at all...

There are many variables in making a real-time game look photo-realistic. The 360 could generate an image that looks like a photo. Alan wake is a good example. But when it is in motion, it will look a bit colder, especially if there are people in the scene. Animation is very important when imitating real life. Lost Planet and Dead Rising have some great animation which comes close to real life (if you consider giant worms "real life").

i have already seen NEAR photo-realistic quality pics and video in real-time, as for actually achieving photo-realism this gen is still up in the air.

I beluiev a photo realistic shot is capable in a picture or an in game shot, not a video. As a matter of fact, with a picture, in Forza 1 for the xbox I made it look like the car was real with the right angle and lighting so without a doubt this gen will have/already has photo realistic IMAGES.
