I personally love shooting games but theres a point were it get repetitive sometimes. The point when almost all the big hyped games are shooters. Lets see Killzone 2, Gears 1/2, Resistance 1/2, Haze, Uncharted,Bioshock, Resident Evil 5, Halo 3, etc. Those are mainly the ones that i hear that are hyped up but I know that there are other hyped games that are not shooters to. But you have to admit that its a console war with shooters leading the pack. I for one would like to see some more variety (then what is out there).
What are you going to do about fads, we have seen platforming fads, fighting fads J-rpg fads, W-rpg fads, sandbox fads, shooter fads and music game fads. I'm still into shooters but I think that's because I jumped on the bandwagon later than most others.
I think there is a good amount of variety, the shooters have just been the most talked about games, and in this case the ones that have dominated AAA scores.
But there is a good amount of RPGs coming now, Action games, action/adventure, etc
no more shooters everything is becomming a shooter now,. even RPG games are becomming more like a shooter like mass effect and to lesser extent oblivion. Oe day we are going to see a fighting FPs. I want something different. What ever happened to action games.

are you serious? we get at least a couple WWII shooters every year. I don't remember a year without one of these.
anyways, i think there's a ton of shooters and some developers are making them just because a lot of people like them and well-known shooters like Halo 3 and COD4 are getting pretty high scores. Make a shooter, make it sound really cool and interesting, and hope it makes a profit.
if anything, I want to see a lot more turn-based strategy RPGs
i agree IMO sony and MS seem to be trying to go head to head with who can have the best shooter when all this gen needs really ia for one of them to create a new brand, same with all game developers
can you imagine the success if one of them was to create a better american football game than madden? or a better football game than fifa? yet none of them seem to want to finance the risk, they just go for the easy failure of a lame shooter (looking at you Haze)
hopefully LBP and spore will both sell well and make huge waves
