With the vast majority of Wii U's games supporting off TV play with its streaming tablet, you can take the small, portable console anywhere that has an outlet and just start playing full console experiences on a tablet sized screen. Waiting for the plane or flying can be a fun filled romp through the mushroom kingdom now :)

I don't know if dragging the Wii U around would be THAT big of a deal. It's supposed to be the lightest of the 8th gen consoles I believe. If you have a large enough bag and aren't traveling with a billion things I think it could work out.

But yeah, the fact that the Wii U can act as both a console and handheld is pretty neato.

It cross my mind once. I just never considered it because the idea is just borderline ridiculous.

Since we're on system wars: thats Plus One for Nintendo. :D

now theres no need for 3DS Ports. ;)

If I traveled a lot out of the home, staying in hotels quite often, I'd take advantage of the feature. But for a vacation trip? Nah.

Just need two plug sockets so you can charge the gamepad after it loses power 5 minutes into use.

You can get at least 15 minutes out of that gamepad!

Don't play my Wii U at home much less on the road. Nice that people who like the games have a pseudo-portable option, though.

Eh, seems like more of a hassle than it's worth. I would rather just use a handheld for playing away from home.

18 hours fly is rough. Def would try Wii U in a very long distance air fly. I don't know if it's safe for your Wii U because planes are prone to air bumps.

And you can't get a Wii U experience on a Vita, 3DS or Android/OSX platform.

Seems like it would be worth the effort if all one needs is a 120V outlet.

Yeah, no. I'd rather just leave it at home. A WiiU is the last thing I need on me when travelling.

I'd much prefer to take an actual handheld with me, or laptop.

I have a Wii U and a Ps4 and the Wii U is about half the weight of the PS4 and about 3/4 of the size. Easily 1/2 the size of the XB1.

Yeah but you don't get the lag effect that you do using remote play with the Vita. All 3 games I've tried to use remote play on (NBA 2k14, Killzone, Infamous SS) have has a little bit of lag to them, even though I was sitting right next to the PS4. I would also point out the lack of required buttons and the shoddy touchscreen "buttons" to make up for them. Sure, dragging the Wii U around isn't exactly ideal, but it's the easiest way to get a console on the go without any draw backs.

well, this is kind of ridiculous in most cases, then again if you're gonna be on one of those huge flights halfway around the world that can take like 10 to 14 hours, it can kind of be worth the effort

I've never really experienced much of said lag (played Killzone, Need For Speed, and all the indie games this way). The control inputs however is a more than valid point. Why on Earth did Vita not just have an L2 and R2 in the first place? Ack.

Not to mention a wide range of non-gaming usages. I feel like the Wii U should have just been the tablet; Nintendo gamers claim not to care about graphics, so rehashing gamecube-level visuals a third time should still have been attractive, especially in a more portable form.

That is just dumb. Just use your cell phone and you can use the emulator of your choice for 1080p classic gaming.
