What's the ultimate arcade shooter in your opinion. Arcade shiiter as in most casual, noob friendly, easy to pick up, and extremely fun.

I have to say Halo, because it has:

-No recoil

-Laser/Plasma weapons

-Unrealistic but awesome gun sounds

-Big health

-Feel satisfied when killed someone

Honorable mentions: CoD 4/WAW/MW2, Unreal Tournament, TF2.

Yeah, but it's really hard to master it since you can't go lone wolf. Like the Engie will pwn the Scout without even trying.

TF2 is not quite an arcade shooter, more like a tactical shooter. altho the gameplay is casual in parts. I agree with TC in Halo, otherwise its still CS 1.6 or Quake Live. Other candidates include Goldeneye, PD64, Timesplitters. However, COD strikes me as the casualest of casual shooters because its a shooter i can play blazed off my face and with my eyes shut half falling asleep. Nothing more arcadey than that

Err what, you have your definitions completely mixed up and just because something is simple and easy to access doesnt mean its casual.? Many can say UT2004 fits all those criteria of yours and yet it takes crazy amount of practice to even stand a chance online.

My definition of "arcade shooter" is of the game type that was before the advent of first person perspective, the old side scrollers or overhead scrollers. You know, the games that actually had their origins in arcades. This would include R-Type, Gradius, Raiden, Metal Slug, Contra, etc...

Halos MP is pretty arcady I suppose. I also love this game on Ipod touch called NOVA, and its really arcady as well.

Left 4 Dead. It's also easy, fast paced and in general there isn't much of a learning curve for the coop. Of course as a competitive game it's another matter, but I always considered the coop to be the main focus.

oh. I thought you were asking about actual arcade shooting games. We have paradise lost (an arcade port of Far Cry, pertty damn good actually), Big Buck Safari, and Segas Primeval Hunt at my arcade. Paradise Lost and Primeval Hunt seem to be trading places pretty much weekly as far as which one gets played more

Quake III, but it does require plenty of skill.
