The original is one of the best games ever made. The graphics were so far ahead of their time it still looks as good or better than games that are coming out now a decade later.
#2 was mediocre. It was attempting to appeal to console players who had no interest in the game and had never played the first one. The graphics and gameplay were dumbed down compared to the first game. PC gamers weren't interested because it wasn't as good as the first game, and console players largely ignored it. No suprises that it flopped.
#3 was an expansion pack sold as a full priced game.
Saw it, pretty good video and summed up the downfall of the series perfectly. Dumbing the game down and trying to cash in on the COD crowd killed the series identity.
Crysis while used to be powerhouse back in 2007 plus one of the best FPS around. Its sequel killed the franchise.
Metro surpasses Crysis and become graphic king. Unlike Crysis each Metro game is major improvement over previous game. Thus a better franchise by longshot.
You need to stop babbling about these boring Crysis games. Nobody cares about them anymore, and even in their own time, they were just mediocre stuff.
You also need to move out of your mother's basement and get yourself a life.
the first and warhead are two of my favourite games.
I thought Crysis 2 was a lot of fun, I think PC gamers overreacted to its release.
me too, and i was one of those gamers tbf. crytek made some bizarre and disappointing decisions with crysis 2 that really soured me towards it originally.
it wasn't until i gave it a second chance and picked it up on the 360 that i was able to start to see past the big differences in feel, style and story between the first games and judge it as a standalone game on its own merits. once i'd got over my biases, i thought it was a pretty strong and fun shooter that was better than many rival fps at the time
They did the same thing to one of my favorite games, F.E.A.R.
That first game (and personally, its two expansions) really made me become the graphics whore I am today. I blew so much money on graphics cards, RAM, CPU, new computer, blah blah blah because of F.E.A.R. Plus the AI in that first game still is some of the most impressive and intense AI ever to be put in a video game, which is both very impressive and sad that companies today can't match a game from 2005.
Then they killed it much the same way Crytek did with Crysis. Cashing in on that COD crowd. Shooty shooty bang bang, rather than focusing on what made the game special in the first place. FEAR 2 and 3 suck so much ass its not even funny. They even dumbed the AI down and made it less scary.

Even if Crysis 2 is absolute shit compared to Crysis/Warhead, by standards of other FPS at the time, it was still better than the majority of the pack.
Which just goes to show how good Crysis was.
The good about this thread is that if it weren't for consoles, the Witcher 3 wouldn't exist as it is. CD PROJEKT RED said that it was inviable without consoles and it turned out to be one of the best games of all time.
PC Gamers getting owned by an originally PC developer is priceless.

Crytek said the same thing about Crysis 2 and 3, and look where are they now. Crysis let them open 5 different studios while its sequels brought company to the brink of extinction.
Again in the case of CDPR, Witcher 1 and 2 enable them to bring WItcher 3 finally to consoles. If it weren't for PC there would be no Witcher in the first place. Another reason that good games come to life on PC always.
Finally yes, Witcher 3 is bad because of consoles. The developer even acknowledged why they had to downgrade the game.
