for me anyway, I have like 42 inch tv, I know not that big, but this is a mancave setup.

I sit pretty close, like 8 feet or something, and that's how my furniture is setup, it's not like I can change it.

The screen size is good for me, but not for every game. When I want to play fps games it makes me nauseous because I sit too close.

I solve this by schrinking the screen size, but my tv like many tv's don't support this, so I have to do through the console. Sadly the xboxone cannot do this, a pc can and a playstation can.

So for fps games I am forced to play fps games on a pc hooked up to my tv, for me that is a major disadvantage, since I am a xbox gamer.

I was hoping this issue would have been solved with the series x, it isn't, while the ps5 can do this without any issue.

How do you do that with the PS5? Is there a 1:1 Pixel mapping feature if you use 1080p output from the PS5 to a 4K set?

Perhaps Xbox owners should purchase multiple TV’s at differing sizes. This is the sole reason why Xbox One was outsold by PS4.

The wealthy Xbox owners could purchase multiple castles and hire a chauffeur to drive them to their respective mansions when switching between games.

For everyone else, this absolute non-issue could be resolved by changing the screen settings in the game or don’t buy a crap TV which doesn’t allow you to change screen sizes!

I’m glad I resolved this highly important problem.

Now onto lesser matters is Biden going to take US back into the Paris Treaty to battle climate change?

listen If have to buy a new tv because my xbox doesn't support a feature that I need, then that's a major downside.

You cannot change teh screen size ingame either.

Only here can you read that creating a big black border around the game and not using the entirety of your display is somehow a positive.

Meanwhile, I sit 8 feet away from my 55” and would laugh at having to see details on a 32” screen.

if you can play fps games like that, you probably have the balance of an old woman, or you're lobotimized.

I know it seems like a stupid feature , but for many people this is real problem, especially now with the oversized tv's people have, which are great for movies, and games like fifa nba and such, but you would be surprised how manypeople become motion sick when they sit 10 feet away from a 65 inch tv when they playing a shooter.

Never mind the fact that you don't have any oversight as well, and yes the pixels might become quite apparent as well.

@commander: wait a second.. you complain about "motion sickness" because you sit 10 feet from a TV then you explain that the rest of your room is for a VR setup which if FAR FAR worse for inducing motion sickness than sitting close to a TV

you can pretty much avoid motion sickness alltogehter with vr, when you use teleport, trust me if I don't I get violently sick in seconds.

of course the setup needs to be on point as well, but that's less of an issue for motion sickness, it feels just less responsive then (like with a psvr for instance)

well since some other people got it, i just thought it was lazy reading. English is not my native language tho, and on closer inspection, I saw the leap from how I did it on my pc to the difference between playstation and xbox, which was indeed confusing.

42" at 8ft. is making you feel sick? I'm not cutting you down or anything man just curious as to whether you have vertigo or something. It took me a while when I first got a big screen TV over 60" to play or watch a movie or something on but after a week or so I adjusted. I now play on an 85" at around 10ft. and don't have any real issues. I'm wondering why you feel like that. Have you tried taking something like dramamine to see if it helps? I'm not saying that's a permanent solution, just wondering why it happens to begin with. Do you get easily dizzy or have vision problems?

On another note I guess I never really thought about it but the Xbox doesn't allow you to crop the screen?

I'm sitting here refreshing like a mad man since it's saying all over online that Best Buy still hasn't gone live with the restocks.

@WitIsWisdom: only with fps games, tps games are bit more forgiving but it's still not comfortable.

no I don't have any vision problems, or any of that, I'm also not prone to car sickness or anything. I actually was never motion sick before I got into vr.

and I solved that completely with the teleport function. I have done a lot of research in this. Mainly because this is an ever ongoing debate in the vr community , people who don't get motion sick (or can train it) want games without teleport, allthough most games can cater both (free locomotion and teleport)

Either way, with the bigger tv it's basically the same principle, if it engulfs too much of your vision, and you move around virtually in a 3d world, you can get motion sick.

It's because some people rely on their vision for balance as well (in conjuction with their inner ear organ that manages balance)

apparently you don't rely on vision much and mostly on your inner ear organ, and it's also the reason why you can get used to it.

Nope, but you have to see the hilarity there... It's very much not a "major advantage" for the vast majority of people. Silly thread.

@commander: Uh. Seriously? I’ve never heard of someone feeling sick watching a tv, let alone when watching a smallish TV like yours at 8 feet...and nobody else (at least here) has the issue.

Do you think that anybody who doesn’t have the same reaction as you is “lobotomised or has the balance of an old lady”, and doesn’t it sound strange to you asking me if the world revolves around me when it seems you think that your condition is the norm? Not that I’m chuckling at your issues....but I did when you called screen resizing a “major feature”.

I never said it was a major advantage for a vast majority of people, but it's still a major advantage for people who need this.

I know people in my friends list that go sit on the top of their seat backrest to sit further away from their new 65 inch tv when playing fps games.

I know people who are frustated because they have to buy a new controller to replace the battery on the playstation controller (or be handy replacing it on a sony controller, which I can tell you, is no cakewalk), or the fact that you'll be stuck with a cabled controller if you forgot to charge your playstation controller.

That a xboxone can do multitasking, so that you can easily look though an internet browser without having to quit a game.

That an xbox is limited in apps for music to play in the background.

and the list is a lot bigger than just the features I mentioned. Both systems have different features that go way past games and power,

if you consider all different features , there are a considerable amount of people that will have an issue that one system has a certain feature and the other one doesn't.

You're just ignorant about this, which is fine. it doesn't change the fact that I will have to buy a new tv if I want to play fps games on a xbox system, which woudn't be the case I if had a playstation.
