The PS4 is winning the exclusives war in 2016 so far...

2016 is off to a great start as far as games go, especially on the exclusives front- after all these years, these consoles are now finally coming into their own.

We all know that the PC is winning the war for exclusive games this year, so I'm going to keep that out of this discussion. Instead, I wanted to discuss the war for exclusives among the home consoles- where it turns out that this year has been the first year where we have had a heated battle so far, one that thus far, the PS4 seems to be winning:

The long and short of it is, the PS4 is definitely winning the exclusives war this year so far. The Wii U is coming in at a respectable second place, while the Xbox One has the poorest showing- it has had one exclusive so far this year, and that one exclusive failed to live up to expectations and hype.

Going forward, things look even better for the PS4- multiple great exclusives, such as The Last Guardian, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Gran Turismo Sport, Star Ocean 5, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Dreams, Persona 5, and NieR Automata are all scheduled for the console by the end of the year, ensuring that, this year, no matter what, the PS4 will be winning the war for exclusives.

EDIT: Because there seems to be some confusion- any game not reviewed on Gamespot has not been listed in this list. I fully acknowledge that I may have missed out on some games regardless. There was no malice intended, the PS4 portion of the list originally had just 3 games listed too- other games were brought to my attention, and added. If you think the list your platform of choice is missing any exclusive games that were reviewed on Gamespot, just bring it to my attention, and I will add it.

Yeah, the ps4 is way ahead of other consoles, Nintendo still have a decent exclusive output but have next to 0 third party.

If i was to get a console, it will be a ps4. It has bloodbourne and I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to play uncharted 4.

Also if the final fantasy 7 remake launches in ps4 first (it probably will) I'll certainly be buying one.

Probably yes. If you don't count PC. And I don't know the handheld exclusives this year.
It still has Persona 5 and Nioh coming, which I think will be a lot better than the 3 you mentioned.

It's optically far more pronounced. Remasters don't generate much excitement overall for a platform, and among the early 2016 games, UC4 and R&C are the only new installments that have delivered on their expectations. But new installments are years in the making and it's only convenient that some of a publisher's best efforts have culminated in launches in this release period (btw, isn't Alienation, Salt & Sanctuary exclusive?).

Even so, the state of Nintendo and MS' first and second party efforts is more disheartening than laudable. It's childish to want a game to fail so another can be treated to inordinate levels of attention and focus. But it's on both MS and Nintendo to make the proper investments in creative vision and talent.

I am only counting retail exclusives for this so far- but yes, if we were to count the equally excellent Salt and Sanctuary, and Alienation, then the PS4's lead becomes even more impressive.

Ah, I just realized that since Quantum Break is also on PC, I can either not count it, or count PS4 'exclusives' shared with PC too.

In which case we also get Street Fighter V and The Witness added to the mix.

Funny enough we see the typical lemming who defend constantly the xbox one,and after realizing the xbox one has shit this year,claim that all consoles have nothing (lol completely wrong) and goes and hide on PC..

This is flat out false. Cows were only too eager to run to PC to discount Xbox 360 games like Bioshock and Mass Effect all last generation. Don't go rewriting history on me.

You really shouldn't be using averages, use number of games above x score.

@ten_pints: Well, I've used all exclusives regardless of scores, and I've used averages. There shouldn't be any problems, since I've covered all bases.

Id change it to home console exclusives. I see a bunch of PC games. Wonder how they compare to 3DS though. Also dont forget Star Fox Guard.

You are including multi plats as exclusives. Also you should show the sales of those games if you want to talk about who is winning.

Agreed. And Uncharted 4 is by far the best Console exclusive this year so far, I don't think any other Console game will surpass it this year.

I'd agree that the PS4 is winning the exclusive war thus far for 2016 and will probably still be the winner of 2016 at the end of the year. Which means that each company will have won a year: Nintendo in 2014, Microsoft in 2015, and now Sony in 2016.

super hot, flame in the flood and KI season 3 came out for xbox. Oxenfree did too and thats not out on PS4 yet.

I love how PC is left out of the discussion because it is the clear winner. I own all 3 consoles plus a gaming PC, so this lineup looks pretty bare bones to me. R&C is amazing and I'm sure Uncharted 4 is as well. I will find out in a few months when it goes on a deep discount. If a game is on 2 machines and I can choose which version I buy, it isn't exclusive. This new allowing games that aren't exclusive to be considered exclusive is just stupid. If I can buy SF5, Gravity Rush, and The Witness on 2 different platforms, how in the world is that exclusive? Simple answer, it isn't.

Exclusive means not obtainable elsewhere.

Phil Spencer said he was turning the ship around but it feels like we're still headed into an iceberg. We need some good games on xbox 1 because it really feels like nintendo is putting out more games than microsoft which I don't really understand. Microsoft is a billion dollar company which is trying to grow windows 10 and xbox one. Look at sony's list and now look at our list something is very wrong.

You childish idiot, I still have my Xbox One and just completed Quantum Break on it. I've had a PC for PC games all my life. The PC doesn't need defending on here to hyped up idiots on here as it rarely gets flamed. The thread is about exclusives this year, of which there isn't many Xbox One so I'll be playing on PC until they release some more later in year. I admit I got dragged into some of your threads looking for an argument to fulfil your obsessive desire. The fact you still go on about it and compare to last year (during which you obsession was Xbox 360 by the way not PS3) just shows you have an issue your yet to see. The difference is I saw how unhealthy it was and you really need to do the same.

I've completed Quantum Break on Xbox One and just purchased Witcher 3 to play on my laptop (at better graphics than a PS4 I might add).

Come back when you actually played games this year and people might take you more seriously.

I just need to point out that I had originally listed only complete full; exclusives- however, I realized the Xbox One would have literally no exclusive listed if I did that, because Quantum Break also came to PC. To ensure the Xbox One had something, and then to be fair, I relaxed the riles, and listed the games shared with PC too. But you know what, you are free to discount SF5 and The Witness, because they are better on PC- that still leaves the rest of the list open right there for you, doesn't it? And it's a big list, too.

Sorry bud, I did look around for those, but there are no Gamespot reviews for any of those, so I did not list them (just as how I have not listed Valkyria Chronicles for PS4 either).

If we're including games only on PC also but not on any other system, Enter the Gungeon should be there for PS4 and SuperHOT should be there for the One.

Some nice looking games on PS4 in there for sure, games like Alienation and Salt & Sanctuary, R&C are games that appeal to me. SF5 as well, but it looks the PC route will work best for me for that game because I payed over 200$ for my XboxOne TF2 stick, which apparently works on PC.

As for the Xbox One side, I must say the OP is absolutely horrible at painting the actual picture of offering this far this year, no offense TC, and on a side note I'm too lazy to research of of these XOne games are indeed console exclusives, because it honestly doesn't really matter to me.

Xbox One also received some fantastic indie games such as Flame in the Flood(my favorite survival game this year), Seredenn(excellent 2D Rogue Like Space shooter), Oxenfree(psychological thriller), Ori and Blind Forest definitive edition(old game but release got new stuff).

As for the bigger games we got Killer Instinct Season 3 recently, Quantum Break obviously, just got Raiden V today. PS4 got R&C and I would say that was where the PS4 offered more so far, for me anyways. Although I'm happy with the other stuff like the Porsche expansion in Forza 6 that recently came out for example and the regular monthly Halo 5 updates.

In short, I've had no shortage of games to play on my system, and while PS4 games listed may have a higher metacritic score, and also in greater number in terms of exclusives, bottom line is all those games I listed I have enjoyed a lot(except Raiden 5 haven't played it yet). So to each his own, but to me the situation is not as grim as depicted in the OP at all.

• Only games reviewed on Gamespot were included in this list- this applies universally to all platforms, you will notice, for instance, that I excluded Valkryia Chronicles Remastered from the PS4 list as well
• I may have missed out on some games- again, this was done without malice. The original PS4 list had only three games in this thread, and others brought other games to my attention, that I then added. If you think there are any eligible Xbox One or Wii U games I am missing, feel free to bring them to my attention and I will gladly add them

@charizard1605: Both Oxenfree and Flame in the Flood got an 8/10 on this site, just an fyi. But the Gamespot search engine is so bad I had to use google to look them up lol
