The 360 stacks up just fine as a videogame console without the added cost of the HDDVD player...If the 360 needed the HDDVD player to play HD DVD games, then you would have a point. But it doesn't need it so adding it is just silly.
So far, the 360's DVD games are holding their own against the PS3's Blu-ray games...

He makes a very good point .
Here it is : PS3 60 GIG = $600.00 + $60.00 (One New Game) = $660.00
Xbox 360 Premium $400.00+$200.00 (40 more GIGS) +$200.00 (HD-DVD) + $100.00 (WiFi) + $60.00(online fees) + 60.00 (1 New Game) =$1,020.00

So you're apposed to setting them equal? So, I think we can officialy say Scion>porsche, becuase scions are so much cheaper, and hey, they both move. Scions move people just fine, but there is so much more to it than just moving. The same goes for a video game console, sure, 360 plays games just fine, but there is so much more to it than that.

How about we use a more reasonable analogy.
A Corvette Z06 vs a Ferrari F430.
They're both fast (actually the Z06 is faster but its neither here nor there), but with the Z06 being significantly cheaper (less than half the price), you get more bang for your buck if all you want is speed. If you want a bunch of other features such as the sequential F1 gearbox, you can opt to pay more for the Ferrari.
It's the same thing with the 360 and PS3. If all you want a system for is playing games, you can buy the $399 360 and perhaps a year of Live and that's all you need. You don't have to pay any more for things you don't want or need. But if you do want that, you have the OPTION of buying it.
So let's review.
Xbox 360: $399 ($299 minimum)
Playstation 3: $599 ($499 minimum)
And that's it.

the hd-dvd is optional...stop using it to justify the 600$ you shelled out for the PS3.AgriathI don't really care how much money I spend on a videogame system because I'm going to get it if it'expensive or not because I'm an uber nerd, but don't be ignorant. Everyone knows that over 50% of Lems are shelling out all of that money for the extra stuff. Yes, the PS3 is more expensive just for the console, but as far as other stuff that you WILL be getting, 360 is more expensive. Anyone with some intelligence knows that.
NO, I'm not hating on either system, just had to get that out there.

lets see some proof of that 50% you talk about, I didn't buy the HD DVD or any other add on's.
This was posted on the PS3 forum by TheDudeAbides2 .Well, this may be I guess somehow applicable, though not all all from me. A) I purchased the transfer peripheral for $35 at Best Buy. I now store all my unneeded files on my PC external hard drive (unlimited hard drive space pretty much). B) I don't need the Wifi adapter, I live in an area where having Wi-fi is prohibited and ethernet jacks are plenty. C) No HD-DVD add on for me. I have a very high bandwidth connection, and have already rented or purchased several TV shows and Movies in Hi-Def. D) Online Fees are $50 for 13 months, so thats $46.15 for a year of XBL. That brings the total (with one new game, assuming you can't get a discount on it) to $506.15 for a premium system with a year of XBL. Assuming you want to get the attachment to connect to the computer, it would be $541.15 with one game, a year of XBL, and essentially unlimited hard drive space. Moral of the story, your silly thread fails.

Few give a Sh8t about blu-ray or HD-DVD. current dvds look great in high definition. As for online. Sony online is a joke compared Xboxlive. You can't even get a friends list going. And no video scaler on PS3 equals HD pain in the but!
