At Okumura's palace and so far this place is pretty terrible. Lost almost an hour of progress because of that stupid elephant and his attacks landing constant crits on MC twice.

I hated that palace tbh. It was so damn long it took me 2-3 days in real life because I only have a specific amount of time to play everyday lol
At what level do you guys recommend I should fight the lolis and the Reaper?
I never fought the Reaper legitimately. Always during a Flu day.
Got myself to about level 95 so I could fuse Satanael which helps since it's resistant to everything.
My team that beat the wardens were Joker, Makoto, Yusuke, and Haru all of which were above Level 95. Be sure to pack lots of SP Healing items because the battle is quite long and you're gonna need some Somas towards the end.

Do I need personas with Enduring Soul like with Margaret?
-fail negotiation
-enemy gets attack, crits you
-buffs themself
-attacks AGAIN and crits you to death
I REALLY hate negotiations. That shouldn't be possible from some random trash mobs though.
why do they get a 3rd attack? :P
Hell if I know, and I ambushed. At casino atm and got to the mega slot machine, but didn't have enough coins. Going through dice area now since I couldn't stand grinding out the meager payout of slots. Would've went there first if I knew it was gonna be really shitty like this.

I dunno then :P
I always felt negotiations were fair since you gain a lot of stuff as time goes on. The negotiations themselves are a 1/3 chance with a chance of getting a party member to restart it and if you fail save you from a fatal hit. I dont think ive had a time I failed a negotiation then died instantly.
You arent supposed to go for the small slots, there is a story bit for the slot and dice room that give a big payout :P
The traitor just showed themselves and tried to kill me. We definitely outsmarted them, tho. Another victory for The Phantom Thieves lol. I can't wait to get my revenge!
I've barely had the chance to play this past week. I'm still in the middle of the 6th palace. I feel like this is the first palace whose layout is quite disorienting, which I mean that in a good way. It doesn't feel as straight-forward and more like a labyrinth.
Finally finished this game spending 98.5hrs of my life under 2 months. Now I can get on with my life :D
I felt that taking advantage of beating the Reaper during flu season for levelling up purposes made it less challenging as I progressed near the end of the game. Regardless, I hope there be a sequel or something along the lines of Persona 4 Golden/ Persona 3 PSP
I beat the game on the weekend. Solid 9/10, easily the best game in the Persona series, and really enjoyed quite a lot of it.
Unfortunately, just like Persona 4, the story pacing completely falls apart in the final 15 hours or so. The Phantom Thievery builds to an anticlimax, followed by lots of Not-Phantom-Thievery...which works for the series, but felt out of place in this particular story. There were some neat ideas, but they were really poorly executed at the end, and flood of JRPG tropes kind of brought it down a few notches.
Still, it was a great game, and a big improvement for the series. The new dungeons were fun, the awful Mementos sections were used sparingly, and it's probably the most stylish JRPG of all time. Good stuff!
Hey folks,
Unfortunately I have never ever had the pleasure of playing a Persona title.
Who is Persona 5 for? and if there was a title it was similar to what would it be?
Sounds like a really good title but something is holding me off from committing to this game.
@cyberpunk_2077: it geared towards JRPG fans mostly. It's a dungeon crawler with social simple elements. What really drives the game is the story and the characters though, so it's something you really have to experience. If you are remotely interested I would suggest you give it a try. If there is something specific you want answered, feel free to ask
Well I finished the sixth palace and what appears to be some sort of climax in the game, holy shit. So much has happened. I never trusted Akechi, but at the same time I was never too sure. I'm just glad it wasn't any of the other kids. That whole set-up including the decoy murder was intense. After the revelation with Akechi, his character pisses me off more than he's ever had, and I never liked his squanThdering detective games to begin with; but now, getting revenge on that fucker will be one of the most gratifying things.
That whole sequence that followed-up with the society announcing of his capture and suicide, and the reactions of all the party members, had such emotional depth to it. I had no idea the story was pulling my leg with that whole scheme.
@cyberpunk_2077: If you love RPG's and particularly JRPG's (the anime style doesn't turn you off), you must play this game.
It handles a lot of darker and mature subject matter not commonly explored in video games. It's a behemoth of a game and not something you can just beat on one weekend. The story is incredibly well-crafted, and it's like diving into a really good book.
Be prepared to read a lot of text as the game swifts through lot of comic book style dialogue. There's a lot of voice acting, too, but not for every moment of dialogue.
The closest game I could really compare it to is the Paper Mario games, if you were a fan of those games. Similar turn-based battle system and all that. Although unlike Paper Mario, Persona 5 is way more mature and it will cover subjects such as suicide and crime syndicates.
@metalslimenite: @jaydan: @aigis: Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like what I'll surely enjoy. I don't mind the length personally I'm a fan of long play-through's that include pretty much everything you have all mentioned.
It is purely the anime side of things that somewhat held me off. I don't mind anime but never before as an JRPG/RPG on console rather.
I'll definitely watch out for this one once I've cleared up the games I have yet to complete.
On the final stretch of Shido's palace. Just sent the calling card. I hope Akechi is resting in hell without syrup or butter for his pancakes. Hard to have sympathy for his character after what he's done. The twist was really obvious, but at least the game used that element as a break point for progression. I think they could've done better with the interrogation and explanation of the counter-betrayal plan.
Really liked every character/social link with how far I got in each. They were extremely well done again IMO. Although I don't care much for Haru (her voice annoys me) and dislike Futaba's character. The "insanely skilled" hacker/tech guy is never done right in media and feels like a cop-out to giving us a better solution to a problem. Hate myself for not finishing Shinya's and Iwai's link. Oh well, I got NG+ to finally see the end of those.
@ChubbyGuy40: Hey, what do you dislike about Futaba? I understand Haru because she annoys me too but I think Futaba was one of the most entertaining characters in the whole game. She always had me laughing or really interested.
@aigis: I felt so bad when I maxed Sojiro's social link and he asked me not to get with Futaba. I was like damn it's already too late smh. I felt like a real asshole at that point lol
@aigis: I know but it was like a major oh shit moment. One of those just like real life moments that Persona is full of lol
@cyberpunk_2077: Believe me, I'm not obsessed with anime myself - I don't get head-over-heels over something just because it's anime (but I appreciate good media of any sort) - Persona 5 is simply phenomenal and it would be a great disservice to pass it up just because it's something of that genre.
To put it quite simple, if you agree that 2017 has been an incredible year so far for video games and that it will surely go down as one of the best years for games in a long time, be assured Persona 5 is one of the major games responsible for that.
@ChubbyGuy40: Hey, what do you dislike about Futaba? I understand Haru because she annoys me too but I think Futaba was one of the most entertaining characters in the whole game. She always had me laughing or really interested.
Like I said, it's the whole hacker thing. It's a lazy cop-out to solutions where technology provides a blockade for progression, because any hacker character will just type away on a keyboard and it's magically solved. It lacks imagination for the process of how things get done and just provide an end result. Everything else about her character is fine, but it's not one of my favorites compared to everyone else.
One thing I noticed is that compared to P4, the group of friends didn't feel as solid. I mean with P4 I can imagine everyone hanging out after class but I have a hard time imagining any of that for P5's cast. They're a ragtag group of outcasts so I get that they come from a different background/circumstance, but they felt like a weaker group as a whole because of it.
Also Ark is by far the best dungeon theme. So damn good.
Finally finished it after putting in over 125 hrs, I feel depressed. Immediately starting NG+ to max out many Confidants, most of them actually (Futaba, Sojiro, Ann, Ryuji, Yusuke, Haru, Chihaya, Hifumi, Ohya, Iwai, Oda ...).
Btw, where is Charizard ? Did he go to Tokyo to meet his waifu Makoto ?
@ChubbyGuy40: we don't talk shit about Futaba here
Huge, ugly glasses. They forgot to take her out with the rest of the trash when cleaning her room. I'm surprised they never mentioned how bad she must smell. Also no curves.
0/10 on waifu scale and not worth the title of glorious 2D. Please head to the nearest Church of Makoto and repent for your sinful ways at once.
