Honestly I don't really need 1/2 the junk they throw in w/ the premium package.

Ethernet Cable - I've got tons of em (and the one from my original xbox)

Chrome finish - wtf don't tell me you're charging for this

XBL headset - good deal but I'll get one with my live subscription package

The one thing I do need is a hard-drive. Which in my opinion is way overpriced, and mostly uneeded. They could produce a 5 or 10 gig drive for cheaper and I'd be happy, or even better let me hook up my own hard-drive (of course that won't happen because hacking/piracy).

So if the core 360 came with a hdd would you buy it instead of the premium?

a free trial of X box live and compent cables so you can have 720p but its just the fact that the hard drive £70 and the up grade to the core is £70 make you question why you bother not upgrading?

I forgot about the cables, but I'll also be playing on a pc monitor so I'll need to buy new cables anyway.

He's talking about when he goes to the store and buys the Xbox Live Subscription, they include a headset.

The thing is you'll never get a smaller HDD then what they give u because they want you to d/l stuff of their marketplace and the more space you have the more you will buy.  It's gonna be either 20 or nothing.

Well, if you don't want the hard-drive you're stuck needing a memory card which is around $40 MSRP. So, for the cost of no backwards compatibility, and few if any multimedia features you save enough money to buy 1 game.
