Even with that being true, Vanguard is fun and pretty wartime first-person shooter on Nintendo's Wii and If you played Call of Duty 3 and want something more atmospheric, this is your game. Its overall presentation is much better and the resulting experience much more engaging. Plus, it's got a decent four-player compatible multiplayer mode, which CoD lacked completely.
But Vanguard's controls, while adequate, are looser than Activision's shooter, which is a disappointment. The developer has almost made up for the less desirable responsiveness with a host of control intricacies, from an analog lean in sights mode to a quick 180 turn and a sprint option and they're all welcomed additions. And yet, none of them mask that basic control shortcoming entirely."

yep... not all realistic war fps ports can be gems :P
if only they could combine both pros from the games... its not so much the wiis fault as the developers scratching the surface on howto make a solid fps with the system... bit by bit thoughÂ

1. Call of Duty 3-PS2 port 2. Far Cry Vengeance- PS2 port 3. Medal of Honor Vanguard- PS2 port 4. Red Steel- made on a modified GC dev kit and ported to Wii. We have yet to see a first person shooter built from the ground up from the Wii. It is ridiculous to judge an entire system's FPS capabilities on four ports.SmashBrosLegend
red steel could have been nice if
A. not rushed for launch
B. polished up a bit in terms of visuals and few other things
C. had a better turning system
d. and a few other small things here and there
[QUOTE="nyoroism"][QUOTE="Brown52"][QUOTE="nyoroism"]MP3. Damn, guess that failed.Brown52
so whens that come out?
A long. Long. Long. Looooooooong. Long..... time from now.well, i guess you fail then.Â

Previews from a game that is due out "A long. Long. Long. Looooooooong. Long..... time from now."
Do I really have to spell it out for you more? Or are you just that much of a fanboy to not see that Wii lacks in the FPSs.Â
Plus its debatable whether you can even call MP3 a FPS.

For FPS stick with the 360. The Wii seems like it be cool to use because you just aim it on the screen , however it is very sensitive and hard to get a reall good shot, also the Wii needs to be played on a decent sized screen for fpsPeterTimpaactually I find it easier to get a good shot..... we have yet to see a good FPS on the wii though. I'm guessing the devs are trying out different things
Metroid Prime 3 is not a first person shooter, it's a first person action/adventure. You play from a first-person perspective. More than half of the game you are shooting. I'd put it at a FPS/A.[QUOTE="SmashBrosLegend"]nyoroism
EDIT: Chain quote.
Shooting is not the point of the series. The Metroid Prime games are about exploration. Saying it is an FPS just because you are in a first person perspective and holding a gun is like saying Resident Evil is a third person shooter. Halo is an FPS, and Gears of War is a TPS. Metroid Pime is a first-person action/adventure and Resident Evil is a survival horror game.[QUOTE="Brown52"]Previews from a game that is due out "A long. Long. Long. Looooooooong. So you aren't a fanboy, yet you are stating that the Wii has great FPSers because someone liked a 5 minute demo of a game that may or may not come out NEXT year
no your right.. that makes perfect sense...

I didn't say it was a great FPS, please quote me on that. I'm saying this thread is pointless because it isn't terrible. Being great is one thing, but not being terrible is another.[QUOTE="PeterTimpa"]For FPS stick with the 360. Metroid Pime is a first-person action/adventure and Resident Evil is a survival horror game. The problem with those kind of definitions is that they're too specific. Wider genres are classified in simpler terms. For example, by that logic I could call Halo a Sci-Fi first person shooter or Oblivion and action RPG. It doesn't work like that. By broad definitions, Metroid Prime falls into the category of first person shooter, because that is the predominate feature of the game.I didn't say it was a great FPS, please quote me on that. Your statements are the only things that are pointless so far as your only defense for FPSs on the Wii has been a game that may or may not come out NEXT year and which many don't even consider a FPS... and your reasoning for this is because some guy liked the 5min demo retro gave of it.
The only logical explanation for why you think this is you are either:
A) a fanboy
B) completely clueless

Let's run through this again.Thread topic: Wii is terrible at FPS
Metroid Prime 3: A FPS (with adventure elements, I'll give you that. But to advance in the game's story, you have to shoot bosses, not jump on them) with previews that are good. Who cares when it comes out? The previews came out months ago, and they point to positive.
ironically a lot of people said that the wii would be only good for fps game before it came out last year ...................mikesoo
I think it still can be. But FPSs usually have great graphics which doesn't help, plus the holding your arm up to aim for long periods of time could be a possible problem.Â

Lets say Metroid Prime has the basic FPS elements in it and thus might demonstrate how an FPS can function on the Wii? The genre of Metroid Prime is one of those endless debates.[QUOTE="Brown52"][QUOTE="nyoroism"]I didn't say it was a great FPS, please quote me on that. So you are picking B then? Alright. Â
And just to be clear, the thread is Wii is terrible at FPS.
To counter this thread title, you say that a game that:
-will not be out this year, might be out next year, or maybe longer...
-Is kind of a FPS (as stated by you: because you don't jump on the bosses heads, you shoot them)
andÂ
-Has been previewed by a guy for 5 minutes who thinks that these 5 minutes have been +
You're right, the Wii FPS are not terrible, I mean, they have MP3, a game that might be out NEXT year and is more an adventure game than FPS and is not even a great FPS (as stated by you)Â Â
