Wasn't hearing any music on rainbow road on mario kart 64, ocarina of time looks rough 3ds version looked way better and mario all stars 64 is where you wanna play that on switch. After playing lots of the games I don't recommend the expansion pack at all. I'm done after my sub runs out.

I wish they went with GBA games or something these n64 games look ugly unremastered and seriously put a real version of ocarina of time on the switch please.

Is it bad emulation or is it running them like they used to be?

Anyhow, doesn't matter for me, it was over-priced and exploitative of the fanbase, I wasn't on board the moment they dropped the deets. I have almost everything I care about on my Wii U anyway.

I think the emulator is bad cause I couldn't hear the rainbow road song playing which is like the only reason I like to play mario kart 64, star fox 64 look and played okay and music was working in that.

Yeah I Hope so expansion is 30 dollars a year all the games should look and sound as nice as they can get them. I wonder if they beta tested this?

Probably just some bugs that needs to be ironed out. Here's hoping anyway.

How would you even play N64 games on an lcd/oled tv? It will look like garbage.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaah, Banjo Kazooie on Xbox One X with 4K looks great. The draw distance is a bit shit, but the overall style and artstyle hold up very well.

Well yea, but that isn't a native n64 game nor is it an emulator, no? You're not getting a 4k picture of the n64 games running on the Switch when in docked mode. Of course in crystal clean 4k it would look great, but you ain't getting that with the Switch.

Nintendo Switch Online's N64 games have a few issues • Eurogamer.net

EG have an article on all the issues. If they're going to charge for these ancient games you'd think they'd go to the trouble of making sure they worked.

Nintendo couldn't even be arsed to make Mario 64 run in 16:9 aspect ratio, something even the most basic of emulators can do.

It all feels a bit wrong in my opinion. Rockstar takes down mods that did more than their own remaster.

Nintendo takes down emulators that do more than own pathetic attempts.

Hell, a while back Sony was even cought copying other people's work in order to emulate their games.

Sure, they own the IP. But they do not own what we choose to support with our money. At this point I'm more likely to give a paypal donation to people creating the emulators. Nintendo is doing an awful job preserving their IP. Truly awful.

They couldn't even be arsed to add the rumble to the US/UK Mario 64. You need to set your Switch to Japan in order for it to work.

I also heard Nintendo has Metroid Prime ready for Switch but they are keeping it like a card up their sleeves.

They are probably waiting to launch it with their all new 100 dollar tier for online gaming.

Nintendo online Super expansion pass.

What the ****? Do they have high school students in charge of these things? This is some extremely amateurish thing to do for such a large company.

Ermagerd. This is a bad showing through the posts above. They'd better fix this stuff - not a good way to treat those who took the plunge on the "service expansion"

Does not look good.

If everything was running smoothly I was considering purchasing it once they added the other announced N64 games- particularly Paper Mario.

I think now I'm going to need to see they fix the issues, add the other games, and probably add more dlc's to make it worth it for me.

I do find it funny they removed the Mario 64 remastered from sale and introducted the lag version for subs. Such a nintendo move.

Maybe Nintendo can hire some of those emulation creators they hate so much. That way, they can show them how to properly emulate their own 20 year old games they are charging people to rent.

I'm not sure what someone playing online multiplayer with a bad internet connection is supposed to prove. It even says right on the screen that his connection is unstable. I'm not saying there aren't other legitimate problems, but this isn't one of them.

I played about an hour of OoT last night, and it was still enjoyable. Yes there are issues, but it's not unplayable.

But yeah, I hope Nintendo improves it (I'm sure they will).

Typical Nintendo. Giving you less and milking it to the highest bidder. Just remaster Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and throw in Twilight Princess and the masses will pay $60 for those same games again. I would lol

I wasn't going to subscribe to it because the main part of Nintendo's service, the online service, is not even as good as what was launched on the OG Xbox back in November 2002. By today's standards, the service is a joke. I absolutely love Nintendo and their exclusive games, but I will not give them a pass for their abysmal online service. If it were as good as Live on the 360, I would be more inclined to join, but Nintendo seems content with what they offer and just want to add "paid perks" to the service. If the online was better I would like to try Mario Kart 64, but not at the price they are asking.

Was a time when this would have been surprising, but now just further disappointment.

Aside from the occasional full priced "remaster", Nintendo seems hellbent on either denying access to their classics or half assing re-releases.

Glad there are fans out there to pick up the slack.

@ConanTheStoner: you know dude.. I had completely forgotten that I played Samus Returns on 3DS years ago 😆 but other than that, no other Metroid game. I hope they bring Prime Collection to Switch. That was a rumor for a while. It would be cool if you can use the GameCube controller adapter. I think I would play Fusion if they brought it to Switch.

Yeah unless you go the PC route, Wii U is the ultimate Metroid machine. Annoying really, but hopefully they'll bring Prime Trilogy (in proper form) to the Switch.

Prime 3 is all about the Wiimote. Prime 1 and 2 originally weren't, but in the trilogy they are.

Though that's not a bad thing, they're among the few "core" games that I felt were a perfect fit for those controls. Like even though I'm playing Prime 1 with mkb right now, still ordered a Dolphinbar and official Wiimote/nunchuck. Really fun control scheme for those games.

lol same dude, gave the WiiU away a few years back.

Optimistic about Prime 4 at least. Nintendo scrapping the initial project is likely a good sign, shows they actually care. And yeah, Retro makes good shit. If it's at least as good as any of the previous Prime titles, I'll be happy.

Aside from being a good game, hope it has that top level Metroid atmosphere and music. Dreads good shit and all, but feels a bit uninspired compared to some of Metroid best. Just missing that extra layer.

Metroid Dread definitely left me with the Metroid fever. Thinking about buying Zero Mission and Fusion on the Wii U via the Virtual Console before Nintendo pulls the plug on eShop support for that system. Want to return to Other M and finish that game. Got the Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii and only played through the first game and some of the second. Would like to finish that. Nintendo would totally make money off me if they were to release all those on the Switch. 😅

That all depends if people speak by keeping their wallets in their pockets.

If there's any news about this Online expansion whatever, I've only been seeing negative ones like this one. Which is good since Nintendo rarely gets a lashing from the media.

Yup. Not that Dread has bad music, just kinda forgettable, fades into the background. Sitting here right now, legit can't even remember a track from the game lol.

But still remember tracks from the Prime series all these years later. Phendrana Drifts and depths, Crashed Space Frigate, Tallon IV, Phazon Mines... whole OST is just dope, sells the atmosphere perfectly.
