How is this nice? Xbox guys literally yawn at these type of games when they are on playstation I better not see them get all excited to pick this up after trashing games like last of us as a movie game or whatever.

Xbox guys you made your bed now sleep it in you trashed playstation games like last of us 2 now trash this too. Go play your halo 4 or 5 and gears 4 and 5 and keep trashing this stuff.

Technically it was expected to have some woes but even that isn't too bad either. A bit clunky but not catastrophic.

Anyway that’s great to see. The game had my interest all along so I was hoping that it would turn out good. Honestly though I wasn’t expecting a 9. Very nice to see that it apparently has turned out quite well, even very well. Really looking forward to playing myself when I get an Xbox Series X.

Well, Bloober Team is a bit of an up-and-down kind of dev studio; Layers of Fear and Observer were alright, Layers of Fear 2 and Blair Witch not so much. I guess it was time for another upswing.

Yeah, that sole negative point did come across to me in the gameplay videos I've seen, hence my previous comments about being iffy about the writing. As the old saying goes; "show, don't tell," and I was concerned they would overdo the telling. Looks like the game's other merits compensate for it.

Still, between Hitman and this, looks like 2021 is off to a flying start. I'll hold off for more reviews (especially one in particular), but this looks good for my GOG wishlist.

Did you miss 2019 when RE2 Remake 90+ meta game and KH3 came out in January? Hitman and Medium really compared to those 2 is a good a year?

Nowhere in my post did I compare years, so I have no idea why you decided to bring up 2019. This right here is why I've given up trying to understand your posts. Two decent games at the beginning of the years is a good start. That's it.

Metacritic takes a while to settle (it's up to 73 right now). I'd also note that horror adventure games isn't for everyone, so you shouldn't be surprised if opinions will be a bit divided. I'm always more interested in the actual text of the reviews than the score, anyway, hence my comment about the over-narration negative.

You've contradicted your own logic twice in the same post. You use Hitman 3 (which is at 87 metacritic) as an example of why 2021 isn't off to a great start, then cite The Medium, using its 71 metacritic score as proof that 2021 isn't off to a great start.

Then, using the same logic, you cite Kingdom Hearts III (which is at 83 metacritic) as a reason why gaming in 2019 had a great January.

So you're both inconsistent about what constitutes a great metacritic score and you contradict whether metacritic scores matter. Well done, Protoss.

PC Gamer also gave it a 92, while both EGM and IGN both gave it 8s.

But honestly, this was always going to be one of those Marmite/Vegemite games; you either like the slow-boil no-combat adventure style game it is, or you don't. I think especially with this kind of game, it's more important to dig into the meat of the reviews to see how it executes the framework of such a game than just superficially looking at the scores.

The first "next gen exclusive" for series X gets a 73 meta, 22 FPS and 900p. If they added those all together they STILL couldn't come up with 1080. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is something I would ignore for PC, but this is something starving Xbox fans need to cling to for life.
