The Last of Us 2 Thread - GS Review 8/10

Critics can rate 10/10 due to marketing but i vote 0/10.

Its going to score 10 because of all the hype surrounding the game.

9/10 but I accidentally chose 7/10.

It will deserve a 7 but will get a 10 on GS, 94 meta.

Personally I’m at about an 8/10 for it. I think it looks like a generally great game. I’d like to see it get a 10/10 just for the meltdowns though. 😅

Anyway my vote for this thread is 8/10.

Yeah I think it'll shake out like the first game. Tons of 10s and goty awards.

Also like the first game, it'll probably be pretty good, but nowhere near the gaming miracle it's made out to be.

This is a tough one. Gamespot didn’t like all the murder in the original game. But this time the reviewer should know the main protagonists isn’t a drug dealer. And there’s a jump button this time...

I expect 10/10s across the board. The actual game will probably feel like an 8 or 9 though. Naughty Dog has way of overhyping people. It'll be good news too, since that would mean that the leaks did absolutely no damage to ND's rep.

Naughty dog plus hitting every checkbox from the progressive developers playbook.

Edit: I'm going for 9/10. My girl Ellie all grown and turn into a Serial Killer makes this game interesting to see how for she can go lol.

I'd guess 9/10. I do think that the visceral nature of this game will turn a bunch of people off, though. The violence can be seriously disturbing if you're at all squeamish. Way nastier than the first game.

As for me, I'm down to see some skulls get cracked.

Yea they really turned up the violence in this one. But if they can give 10/10 to FF7R, then I think it's possible here too. And it would complete the 10/10 trifecta, leaving Lems/Herms/Sheep in shambles.

I seen worst in other much violent games and TLOU2 violence is the norm.

It's just something about the realism. The sounds, the atmosphere, the choking despair, etc. The violence is nauseating in a way that most games don't achieve.

If it gets a 10/10 this place is indeed going to be a highly amusing shitshow.

@subspecies: I won't denied seeing Ellie stabling people in the neck, that really got me and its not something I was expecting her to do and felt more real then any violent game I play so far. But still, I can see why ND is going for realism, this game wasn't meant to be fun, but experience, thrill, and suspense.

I agree completely. The idea is to make the player FEEL something, and not just have fun. The killing is not some mindless activity like in COD or something. The violence is emotionally heavy, and is meant to feel that way.

i loved the first, but i'm well aware the whole was greater than the sum of its parts. the gameplay always felt like it was playing second fiddle to the admittedly impeccable presentation. not quite gta levels of fiddly and clumsy, but ballpark.

uncharted took that whole impeccable presentation idea and ran just a bit too far with it for me. lost legacy was a bit of a chore to play through; too many uninteresting puzzles, scripted gameplay and forced edge of the seat, improbable cinematic sections. the formula became fatiguing.

so i'm really hoping nd pull some gameplay ingenuity and surprises out the bag with tlou2. i want a great game, rather than just a great experience

I'm guessing an 8, because I think it will suffer from being a follow-up most people didn't ask for. Everyone that I'm aware of wanted the "perfection" to be left alone. I agreed. Now many of us (including me) are excited and happy to get another - but I still think that's going to affect our mentality about the game. "this was better last time" "that worked better when it was a novel thing" "I think her character didn't evolve enough" "I think her character changed too much"

84 is very unlikely to happen. They already have 9/10+ reviews stashed away before even getting their hands on the game.

10/10 due to the immense hype it has. The first game got a 10/10 and I expect this to do about the same.

It will get 10/10 in reviews everywhere OMG greatest game of all time it crushes everything ever made (300 game of the year awards this time and a grammy for best picture). In reality it will be just another modern naughty dog game, nice animations and good graphics, a good time for one playthrough (ND games are terrible to replay) but generally way overhyped by the gaming media. Not that interested but will give it a go when it's very cheap.

Hopefully less like U4 as possible, a boring and overhyped game which you spend the first four hours walking, talking and making faux excitement jumps and climbing. The first Tomb Raider had more exciting platforming than U4 at least there was a sense of real danger.

Modern Naughty Dog make average/decent games at best and are the most overrated dev out there.

Tell me about it. Feebackula was fun but I do understand why it needed to go.

9/10, The charm of the first one was seeing two completely different characters interact and all I see in this one is a furious girl in a killing spree.

The only score I don't want it to get is a 9. All other will create various degrees of meltdowns.

That's the score I voted for, but seeing the results, it looks like a guarantee 9/10 this time around.

I wasn't here during TLOU review 8/10, but I always heard it was a flop and the meltdowns was ridiculous. I be surprise TLOU2 gets another 8/10. Will history repeat itself?

I give it a 50/50 chance there's one misguided "wokeness" writer that gives it a 6, calling out Naughty Dog for releasing a game about a pandemic wiping out mankind due to what's going on in the actual world, ignoring the fact that they've been working on it for over half a decade, have put 100 million dollars into the game, and just need to release the game at this point.

Otherwise, it's not going to get lower than an 8, anywhere. Gamespot or IGN will give it a 10. The other will give it a 9.

This is the kind of quality gameplay and storytelling an Xbox game doesn't achieve. They have done both, before. And they will, again (hopefully. they have access to arguably the most diverse spread of IP out of the 3 console makers; they should really use it).

A 10 going by how GS lately has been handing out 10s like candy (unless Tom McShea comes back and reviews it lol).

Getting a 10 won't create any meltdowns, just a lot of masturbation from cows, getting a low score, even an 8 will get a shit ton of meltdowns from cows, that's guaranteed.

Not sure about IGN as I rarely go there, however P5 R proved that this is true here.
