The only difference is, Half life in 2004 was best of all 3. in 2020 it will be worst of all 3. even worse, back in 2004 if someone told me 15 years later. new installment in same franchise will release but Half life would be worse of all 3 even worse than Halo and i would laugh in his face.

but i see its happening.

what do you think? lets discuss.

you don't "see it happening," you wildly speculate. you make your mind up where a game sits on your binary scale of amazing or trash based off a single trailer months or years in advance of a game's release. that's history repeating itself

Couldn't care less about Doom. More interested in indie garbage.

Just happy Valve is making single player games again.

@ghosts4ever: Many people didn't play Half-Life 2 until later on when hardware was cheaper.

Every VR headset supports this game. The cheapest ones are about 200 bucks.

The thing is you're not interested in VR. Already calling it the worst game.

Steam is heaven of VR games especially FPS.

Medal of Honor is also making its return in 2020 via VR installment.

you never need to buy steam. you need to make free account then buy HL2 there.

now you need to buy expensive overpriced VR which is not worth a damn. thats the thing.

In 2004 it was a CPU overhead cost.

In 2020 it will be a monetary cost.

For real tho - I remember being quite upset about Steam when I bought HL2. It was a time when I would close all my programs just to give my computer every advantage to play a game well. Also Steam was pretty bad at launch.

Now I'm just thinking: 'Eh I was interested in VR anyway, I guess it's a good time to jump in'.

I guess it really depends how well it works on the budget VR options.

Still. Any VR headset is a pretty significant cost to play one game. Even the Oculus Quest is $400 USD

Haha. Well there are at least a handful of interesting VR experiences, both gaming and non-gaming.

I get what you're saying tho - it's not a great value proposition.

MGS3 was the best game of 2004.

Hopefully a remake comes out next year with those updated graphics and cutscenes from the pachinko machines.

where this all came from?

beside my PC is not low budget. its just more than budget that still give best possible performance it can do.

low budget is something like 3rd gen i7, gtx 1050 ti and 8 gb ram. thats called budgeted PC and that run most games on low to medium.

beside we are not hardware wars. so why does this matter who own what?

If any computer is running Star wars and Metro on ultra. its no way called low tier PC.

I wish I had a great PC and index so I could play HL properly. By far the most interesting of the three imo. I'm sure the other two will be competent. But let's face it, they will just be more of the same.

Technically they used CD-KEYS which were actually more limiting than Steam, unless you used illicit means.

This is kind of a fallacy.

@Jag85: Steam family sharing allows you to share an entire account, in my case 1000+ games at a click. If its within the same house-hold you can directly stream to other computer or other devices with no install, as well as use remote play for to make local MP games work online.

Trading games was never really a PC thing as typically games ran from the hard-drive then from the CD/DVD. In many cases, even if a CD-key was bypassed the online portion would still be blocked off.

As to the argument of "not owning games", speaking from a personal perspective most of my old games physically owned are long, long gone. In a trashcan or god knows where. If anything Digital Gaming has helped bring these older titles back to a more mainstream audience and keep them relevant on a store-front than the obscurity they had once been relegated to, those games I bought on Steam 15 years ago and still quite happily there, physical ones, nope? Not a clue where they all fucked off too.

@Jag85: They started to implement limited uses, forcing you to contact the companies for more installations across systems. PCs essentially count as "new" to many DRM systems back in the day, once you upgraded a few parts.

Steam has games tied to your account, as well as "Family Share" as cup stated above. Family share is solely limited to those you wish to share with, so long as they have Steam (duh.)

Except the fact that Halo infinite will be best in series considering how ambitious it is for a Halo game.

Doom Eternal will be easily best in series knowing adding everything to series and having most diverse setting in Doom series and not just set on one location (earth or mars).

while this new Half life will be worst in series.
