At least it's pretty I guess?
But you're right, Xbone will cease to exist after another movie game comes out.

LOL at the haters here.
But for me, I'm really excited Santa Monica is changing the God of War formula here and if they didn't, it'll be just another plain GoW game with little to no changes. Also, April 20 is a good day for me to pick this up!!!

Change for the sake of change =/= good.
Edit: The good change is no longer making Kratos a dip shit angry motha f#%^er since God of War 2.
@daredevils2k: Darn. Another 3rd person alone-against-the odds muscle hero game I can't play. I'm so heartbroken. Especially looking forward to the precocious kid acting from the annoying child character.

Look at Gears of War 4, hardly anything was added and it felt more the same. Where else God of War 4 is adding something new. I don't want another raging guy with no emotions and I for one welcome this new Kratos.
And this is why Sony takes risk when it comes to new ideas.
@PCgameruk: There's no jumping, and it is hack and slash. TLOU and Uncharted were more stealth based games. The flow of play looks different than them also(much improved). Only comparison I can see is that annoying kid and Ellie(not annoying). Both games require their help, and neither can die while in battle(As Kratos or Joel).
@daredevils2k Well if that is the truth why are preorders an absolute flop for this game so far. Seems like the game is currently not getting the support it needs:

I am excited to play it, but it seems a lot of people don't give two shits about this game.

Yup, GoW had plenty of room for improvement as it was. The side step here wasn't really necessary and it's not like it's a side step into new territory either. Just looks like a bunch of other over-the-shoulder cinematic games now, making it even less unique in todays market.
I won't completely write it off just yet, maybe it will actually be good. But based on the gameplay shown, it looks like an even less gameplay focused game with a GoW skin. The production values are top of the line, as you would expect, but the gameplay? Zzzzz

Gears of Wars was subpar for me since 1 and continued all the way to Gears 4. I bought that game based on folks stating that they changed stuff well, it still felt and played shitty. It looked great but the gameplay was so mehish.
The good change in the new God of War is Kratos overall personality but the strong emphasis on cinematics is a turn off. Since you enjoyed Horizon as I did, I look forward to your impressions of God of War.
@davillain-: I’m with you bro. Kratos was already stale to me by GOW3. I welcome this new Kratos.
Last thing we need is another angry brainless Kratos tearing shit up. A more thoughtful Kratos with real emotions is better IMO.
And this is why Sony takes risk when it comes to new ideas.
What about this is risky or a new idea though?
I'm not arguing that Sony doesn't take some good risks on some games, they absolutely do. I just don't see this homogenized looking game as one of them.

I have not written it off entirely. I was annoyingly disappointed with UC4 because it looked from every preview of the game to be heavily cinematic and I eventually caved and bought the game. It was exactly what it looked like but worse in some areas.
Horizon Zero Dawn looked straight up boring but gamers who played the game said it was surprisingly good. Caved and bought that game and it was one of my GOTY for 2017 with Prey.
So, if its actually good I will give it a shot but I will hate to purchase this game at full price and it be just what I anticipated, an overly cinematic experience that is more on showing and telling than playing.
What about this is risky or a new idea though?

Risk is that floater or sinker Sea of Thieves.

lol Sony's marketing has barely even started yet. This game will end up the best selling GoW game
Risk is that floater or sinker Sea of Thieves.
Yeah, that's a risk. And on Sonys side, I've always seen the Team Ico games as a bit of a risk, among others.
But new GoW looks super safe if anything. A high production cinematic game, under the name of a well known IP, with (seemingly) push over gameplay segments that put flash over substance? That's Sonys bread and butter right there. Probably has more of a chance for big success than the previous GoW games if anything.
And this is why Sony takes risk when it comes to new ideas.

Gamers weren't thrill about a new God of War (same with Gears of War) when it was announce. But after we have seen Santa Monica is giving Kratos with emotions that is similar to The Las of Us Joel like feelings but keeping his brutality to a minimal, the setting isn't Greek anymore, it's in Norse Mythology now and most of all, we see everyone isn't too happy about Kratos being a Dad with a Son who looks boring but in another way, this isn't the first time Kratos had a kid tagging along with. Everything in this new God of War is beyond different and new then the previous games.

Indeed. It's the Lems who can't see this is a new and improve God of War game. I just got sick of Kratos being motionless.

How is following the formula of another game taking a risk?

Dav, I thought you said Sony was taking a risk here.
Changing Kratos from unintentionally being the most insufferable character in gaming to maybe kinda sorta being alright isn't a risk lol. Changing setting or enemy types in a sequel is neither a new idea or a risk. Pretty standard actually.
I get that a lot of things are different this time around, sure. But risky isn't the right word for it. This is quite possibly the safest approach they could've taken.
@techhog89: i agree. I’m not sure why some people have to justify their own positions by putting others down. Both consoles can (and do) exist.
Most of the games i like happen to be on ps4. Someone elses may be on xbox. It doesn’t really bother me. I own a gaming platform, not stock in a gaming company (although i’ve considered it lol)
@ConanTheStoner: Changing the identity and gameplay of an established franchise like God of War is a risk. However, the new form the series now takes and how accommodating and familiar it is to the PS4's core audience doesn't seem like a risky change.
It still has the potential to displease some fans of the classic gameplay style.
