@the_master_race: Give Disco a shot and do the 2nd RE run when you need a break.

Currently? Red Dead Online

For context, I've only played on my ps4 for about 1023 hours.

Destiny 2. It’s the best shitty game I’ve ever played.

Kinda wanna break the habit and go back to variety games on PS4 now that my backlog is swollen to the point of exploding.

You really want to play another game with the same style of gameplay after finishing D:OS2? For me I always have to cycle through the genres.

Oh play Disco Elysium. My god what a good game.

Or maybe play Outer Worlds before that because once you play Disco it makes Outer Worlds seem simple by comparison. The idea of skill checks during dialog is taken to a whole other level in Disco. The Outer Worlds is very simple in that respect by comparison. Still a great game, just not the narrative powerhouse I was hoping for. I wont say more that that. I'll just say I recommend playing Outer Worlds before Disco. Both are really worth playing.

Factorio

Anno series (Anno 1800 most recently)

Cities: Skylines

...seeing a trend here? I love me some building.

Turn-based strategy games also get me, specifically Warhammer: Total War and Civilization.

Same, Factorio.

The number of times I've spent 10+ hours on a map only to have my OCD tell me "No. NO! It's not perfect. Start over! DELETE THE SAVE!" probably numbers around 30. That's not including the maps I've spent dozens of hours on hahaha.

The game is incredible, a micromanager's dream come true.

@mrbojangles25: Awesome! Glad to see someone else into Factorio.

This latest map my friend and I are working on we decided to go small scale at first and rush trains. We're using the LTN mod (Logistic Train Network). It kinda works like the provider and requester chests, but trains! So now were at the point where we can just run trains everywhere. Our mentality for this one is just to make it work, and fix it up later. Now that were are into the trains we can really focus on making large-scale, efficient factories.

Here's a snapshot I took last night. I've since added a bunch more track.

Also pro tip we figured out during the last game; Artillery is a great way to explore the map :)

Last year it was Destiny 2. Something like 900 hours in 2019. Walked away from that addiction that was not unlike drugs or alcohol.

Currently Dragon Quest 11S. Holy cow what a surprising game. It's not as deep as many classic RPGs, but to some extent that's a strength - it manages to just keep moving moving moving without you getting bogged down

Battlefield 2 IMO is still the best MP game of all time I had so much amazing matches with that game no other MP game has even come close to topping it for me. It's such a damn shame the series is dumbed down these days.

My preferred genres are without a doubt JRPG's & 3D Platformers. Always have been & probably always will be.

I'd say the most time I've ever put into a game would be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I think I am close to 700 hours. I don't play as much anymore though.

Animal Crossing comes to mind as well. I can spend a lot of time on those games.

I've definitely become a fan of the Dragon Quest games in the last few years and prefer them over Final Fantasy. I started with VII on the 3DS & I enjoyed XI S but not to the extent of what other people did.

I have the opposite problem. I'm 33 and struggle to play more than a few hours at a time with games... I miss the days of just straight up playing my day away with games like FF7 and 8.

@warmblur: Yeah, BF2 was the best in terms of depth. The gunplay and presentation has improved over the years, but the series is definitely dumbed down these days. I blame the success of COD for fucking up a lot of FPS franchises.

I've played:

The Witcher 2- 26 times

Mass Effect 2- 20+ times

Max Payne 2- 15+ times (lost count after 15 or so)

Still play The Witcher 2 every now and then. Kept playing Max Payne 2 every year until 2 years ago. Haven't played since. Might try it again someday. Played ME 2, 20 times after release. Haven't played since ME3 came out.

Oh my. games that I am currently addicted to... Ugh... There's too many to list right now

I'll just write down a couple from my latest consoles.

Xbox One (In no particular order)

1) GTA V Online - Mostly because my friends like me playing this with them. Usually I will assist with heists and random CEO missions. Sometimes get into a scuffle in a public lobby. Mostly for fun of course. With them we could play anywhere from 5-7 hours in a day.

2) Sea Of Thieves - Another game that I get asked to play a lot, though sometimes I will do the solo run and suffice an afternoon or evening. I don't get attacked too often

Honorable Mentions - Escapists, Fallout 4, Red Dead 2, Minecraft

Nintendo Switch

1) Mario Maker 2 - (30 Hours+) I missed out on the Wii U version, saw so many plays of it on YT that I really wanted to grab it when it came out for the switch, and I am not disappointed by it at all! So many creative levels that I am still discovering to this day. (Not played multiplayer yet)

2) Smash Ultimate (20+hours) - This was mostly from training as I wanted to play competitively. Didn't do as well I was hoping for but hey. Surely it has changed from the old N64 days and well worth the time investment.

Honorable Mentions - Mario Kart 8

Currently it's Mario Maker 2. I played over 150 hrs because how fun it is. I ether spend time making my own levels or playing other people's levels.

Me too, COD4 really was the one that did it. I never understood the love for that game it's a shame that COD4 got all the credit for going modern when BF2 did it two years earlier and never got credit for it and did it a million times better.

@Cloud_imperium: how!? Aren't you sick of the story by now? Doesn't that prevent you from playing new games? We're not talking arcade games or something that can be beat in two hours and emphasizes platforming skill etc ... Wow, 26 times through TW2

MHW Iceborne I suppose. Basically the only game I've played since PC release. You feel compelled to get better armor and weapons all the time, and it takes a lot of time.

Had 200 hours playtime before Iceborne DLC. My guess is that I'll spend about 200 more on it.

lol, that is impressive. I've played Wind Waker and Resident Evil 4 about 7-8 times each. That, for me, is a huge amount of times to play one game from start to finish, and I need to be in absolute love with a game for that to happen.

Depends on mood. Sometimes I get this urge to play The Witcher 2 again. The game is around 30 hours long (nowhere as long as open world RPGs, so you can finish it during weekend). I go through it all over again. And you'll be surprised that I still find something new in that game. In my recent walkthrough I found a sword in one of the mines. It was so powerful that I didn't have to craft more items until the second half of Chapter 3. I never found it before. Witcher 2's world is much smaller than Witcher 1 but it packs a lot of detail. Plus pacing is probably the best in trilogy.

@Cloud_imperium: more power to you. Still blows my mind - 30 hours is at least a couple months of my life now (often more; depends on how addicted I am to it). So we'd be talking years and years for me to play that game and nothing else 26 times!

I've also been enjoying this series since Battlefield 1942.

But I have to say Battlefield V and especially Battlefield 1 take the cake.

Operations is the best mode I've ever played in the series and Frontlines is amazing as well. These two modes make it feel like there are actual battles going on. Combine that with realistic looking locations like Fort De Vaux or Iwo Jima and you got one hell of an immersive (and enjoyable) experience.
