Doom should win this , they blew expectations away . The SP is so good and the mp is alright too for a twitch shooter. Online coop would have locked this win down.

I liked Doom, glad to see it on the list, it deserves it. Game politics being what they are I fully expect Uncharted 4 to win this one.

@PSP107: I think its just a problem that there arent enough racing games to make its own genre award and they just lump it in with sports because they are both real life sports i guess? The comparison problem doesnt seem like something to worry about since they pit different genres against each other in other categories

Poor lems, none of their games were nominated for game of the year :( . It's kinda of sad that the only game MS has a chance of winning anything, is with the racing/sports genre :(

Ofc they are a joke. Or to use a less harsh term they're 'without reason'. I mean look at the nominees. You have a first person run'n'gun shooter(Doom), an online-only co-op objective based shooter(Overwatch), a 2.5D sidescrolling platformer(Inside) and a third person adventure story focused game(UC4). How can you even compare these things directly and decide which comes on top? It's like comparing apples, watermelons, dump trucks and body losions and then arbitrary go on and say that the apples are the best! The only purpose these situations offer is to give another reason for fanboys to throw themselves at each other's throats.

If you think about it, not even the almighty Halo or Geow was even nominated for Game of the year :(. Must be a really sad year for lems, even though they swear that those two games are the second coming of c......

if you like, we can do a online petition for them to add those 2 games to the list, if that will make Lems feel better.

Then they should dropped it. That's not fair because people who vote these awards don't like sports. That's why you never seen a sports games win let alone be nominated for GOTY.

I rather have this than bunch of mediocre games released this year.

Maybe not during the 360/PS3/PS4/Xone era, but easliy a sports game during the PS1/PS2 era could of won or atleast be a nominee for GOTY.

@PSP107: I feel like at this point, people are just kinda burnt out of multiple yearly sports games. They may be good, but to have a game so similar to one a year before it and having them as goty nods each year would just be weird. They would have to be really groundbreaking

It's no surprise that Uncharted 4 was gonna be nominated for GOTY awards and I didn't expect to see Doom 2016 on the list as well but man, I enjoy both Uncharted 4 & Doom 2016, I want both of them to win it all but if I gotta pick on, it's Doom 2016 PC cause the game was really optimize well and it's the best singe player shooter I enjoy since Halo.

The fact that Dishonored 2 isn't a game of the year nomination is an insult enough but Uncharted has 3 characters up for best voice actor and no XCom2 is just unacceptable
