Its not a benefit because everything they give for "free" is so shitty, its not worth wasting SSD space.

well, for january ps plus, youre getting dirt 5...a game that released in november 2020, came on gamepass in february, and then finally released on ps plus in january 2022. Blackrock galactica, which has been on xbox and pc for like the past 5 years. Persona Strikers which I already freaking bought. Funny how atlast doesn't give away the persona 5 or p5r games.

Storage seems to be a big concern on PS5. Has to be when you're given this paltry amount of space because the SSD is superfast. Have these games that were supposed to be a "paradigm shift" come out yet?

You say "no longer" a benefit, but it never was because the games expire with your sub. 😮

Hence my "haven't been for years" lol.

My gym also gives me free access to the machines with my membership I pay for.

They were never "free". They have always been a rent since you lose access to them once you end the subscription.

Although like 90% of those were on EGS, a store many PC gamers despise, even denying creating an account for it in a pointless act of stubburness. Funny how when the argument conveys you, EGS is suddenly a good thing...

The hatred for the Epic Store is kind of irrational. I get it if you don't wanna buy their games because the platform does suck (the shopping cart for instance is a recent addition), but not even wanting to make an account lol? They offer a free game every week and sometimes even more. Many of them are excellent too.

@Juub1990: I'm surprised you don't have Amazon Prime Games on that list cause they been giving out free games like Control, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, ect. Not just Epic but Amazon is getting closer what they can offer so Epic has competition.

The moment it's behind a paywall, it isn't free. No extra cost =/= free.

@Juub1990: True but however, one of my family relative has Amazon Prime and all I gotta (or anyone really) do is use that person's prime account and get the free game from my personal E-mail. It's kinda of a loophole without paying if you know what I mean.

Edit: The whole hating on Epic is always been stupid to me. I only use the client when you really need to and I been playing games on the client over a year and no issues from Epic at all.

The things xbox fans do to bash PlayStation is without limit.

lol @ Epic Store

But you're one of the same guys I see hyping Gamepass which doesn't even allow you to keep the games you select even when you KEEP your subscription active.

This January has been the first time in six months I've been happy with PS Plus games, but overall, I like the service and end up playing 4-6 of the games in a year on average. Sometimes more than that. No real complaints as there are often a few games I actually have really wanted to play but haven't gotten around to. Like Persona 5 Strikers.

I'm not worried about my sub running out as I usually have 2-3 years on it at all times. I'm not worried about losing access to these games because I will NEVER rely on a subscription service to provide the games I love. If I like it that much, then I'll buy it.

Maybe because i pay for them is that i actually bother to play them; I have claimed the vast majority of the ones that Epic had given and I have played none, i installed several, but i ended up uninstalling them after the updates became a nuisance.

Totally different services. PS Plus was created to compete with Xbox Live Gold, not Game Pass.

@Juub1990:

Agreed, I do not understand in the slightest the hate for EGS. The whole "exclusives" argument makes no sense, since the EGS is a free app that anyone can download, and it's fairly light too (from background CPU usage perspective).

Sure it's not as feature rich as Steam, but all that takes time. I have had Steam since HL2 and Steam took a while to get to where it is now. And frankly I rarely use the community features.

They seems to have good sales and give games away free, sure they are doing that to take some market away from Steam and not due to the goodness of their hearts but who cares, I am not an investor in Valve anyway nor have any weird attachment to Steam.

Really think those who are so against EGS are quite weird/have some issues. It's a free product...

This is what I'll say regarding piracy on consoles.

Back in the day, you could copy game disks, provided you had the right software and provided it was a normal-sized disc or you had a reader for that size. Nowadays games come with some sort of ID that binds that copy to your account. Generally, it's more of a hassle to pirate things on consoles as you'd have extra steps. Not to mention if you are going to be pirating things, PCs have emulators for maximum piracy. And generally, people who pirate are somewhat knowledgeable about computers since you'd need to crack the game and figure out a way to trick the consoles.

Today, Nintendo, Sony, and MS do constant checks to make sure the operating system and hardware of the consoles have not been modified, both the Switch and the PS4/PS5 have custom firmware you can load that will allow you to run pirate games, but at the cost of the consoles being automatically banned when going online, meaning you don't get updates, DLC, Patches or new versions, as well as not being able to play online. Many people who have modified consoles have 2 consoles, a modified one for homebrew and/or piracy which never is allowed online, and a legit console which they use for online gaming.

To sum it up. Encountering console pirates are very rare, PC has too much piracy due to PC being a free market/open-house so as a PC gamer, Gatygun is bluffing about console gamers pirating more than the average PC gamer. I have never pirate on anything, so don't ask me how to do such a thing I hate pirates with a passion. Why pirate when CDKeys exist? Heck, even console gamers can get CDKeys too.

Comparing it to PC is irrelevant.

You subscribe to the service on PlayStation and get a slew of games you otherwise wouldn't on PlayStation.

They used to have great mid-tier games like Space Marine and Vanquish, but I haven't enjoyed any of their offerings in years. That's why, despite being subbed since it began, I finally cancelled my subscription.

Several games are listed multiple times, not to mention there are only a few games on that entire list I would even want or don't already own. Most if not all of those games can be picked up for $20 or less. Still cool I guess, but nothing to write home about.

It's called second handed market, much like piracy devs don't see a dime for the resale of the games. And even outlets like gamestop are heavily advertising and selling used copy's without problems. Hell they even pretend to sell them as new.

@Gatygun: Oh dear. That’s not piracy. That’s reselling something you bought.

I mean, I just bought a second hand car and the manufacturers didn’t see a penny of my money - am I a car pirate?

Do you know why outlets like GameStop “are heavily advertising and selling used copy's without problems”?

Because that’s legal. Not piracy.

It is piracy because devs don't see money for it. It's the same result. Second handed market or used market has been a huge problem for developers since forever. This is why steam became such a juggernaut success, everybody has to buy there own copy. And that's why steam made sure resales of digital licenses wouldn't be allowed and went out of there way to fight against resales of digital licenses. This is also why games can be cheaper on steam versus other platforms. They simple make far more money off it. Every 30 euro discount horizon zero dawn copy gives more money to those devs, then a retail 70 euro game.

'PS4' And 'Xbox 720' Rumors: GameStop Warns Microsoft And Sony That Consumers Won't Buy Consoles That Block Used Games.

Sony (NYSE:(http://www.google.com/finance?cid=33095) SNE ) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:(http://www.google.com/finance?cid=358464) MSFT ) have both been on the receiving end of controversial rumors in recent months about how the companies are planning to curb used game sales and piracy for their next generation consoles, the rumored "PS4" and "Xbox 720," respectively. Sony (http://www.ibtimes.com/sony-files-patent-curb-access-used-video-games-1005876) filed a patent last month that would prevent the use of second-hand video games on new hardware by linking physical game discs to an individual console once the software is installed. Microsoft is rumored to be developing a (http://www.ibtimes.com/xbox-720-release-rumors-microsoft-may-block-used-games-1067072) similar type of "activation code" for its new Xbox console, widely referred to as the "Xbox 720."

Why gamestop does it, is because console developers can't do shit about it. Specially in the PS3 and PS4 area. What is sony going to do? pull all there products from the biggest retailers in the US? yea aint happening. They will apply towards it.

It's like telling the biggest car dealer that sells most of your cars to suck it he can't repair your cars anymore. Guess what your car sales suddenly are going down in flames and competition becomes the main platform.

While everybody was championing about sony and there "look guys u can trade games perfectly fine with our platform video" it's basically retailers that holds a shotgun at there head and they decided to go with it because there was no other choice anyway.

Retailer Stops Selling Xbox Consoles After Game Pass News

The moment consoles move out of the retailers ideology, they get punished directly. because guess what game pass = rip new game sales for retailers.

GameStop: without second hand sales we wouldn't be here

To absolutely nobody surprise, is that cheaper software sell better then expensive legit software. The same way as a dude at your school would sell you the newest PC games for a discount over newer games in shops.

And it's also a major reason why a lot of people actually buy physical over digital still to this day is the resell value. Hell i am digital all the way for 2 decades. but whenever nintendo releases a product i buy there games physical why?

Zelda botw 70 euro's ( 15 for dev )

Mario odyssey 50 euro's ( 15 for dev )

Together 120 euro's

Sold them 2 months later after i was done with it, for 95 euro's together. that's 12,5 euro's i spend on those games.

And that's why gamestop majority of income is second handed sales and developers don't see a dime from.

This is also why people champion so hard on those consoles for physical, not because they want to own there games. but because they trade them in or sell them off to curb prices in order to buy cheaper newer games.

This is the whole problem of why expensive games and 80 euro price tags from sony is going to backfire hard on them this gen after we get our shit on rails again in the west. Most people simple don't want to spend more then 30 on a video game and that's the reality. u can see this with horizon also, 50 outside of sales on steam, nowhere to be seen in any list, on discount 30 always near the top 10.

Just because u call something a different name it doesn't change what it is when the outcome is the same.

And u all got some comfortable doing it, that u start to legitimize it, the same as some shops back in the day sold DS handhelds with 30 games loaded on it with a SD card, or a a PC shop burning the games for you for a discount. "because everybody does it, so it must be right".

No not really.

Yeah ... is actually getting harder to justify the cost ... i still play online a lot, so that's why i'm paying, but the games have been more and more dissapointed each month.

@Archangel3371: I've seen that nonsense ages ago, it was always the pirates that would try to peddle that bs also. 😆

Yeah, I recall the same ”argument” trying to be pushed before as well. I wish I could say that I’m surprised to see it still being pushed today but sadly I am not.

It’s just like scalpers arguing for a “free market”. 😅

@Archangel3371: I wonder if buying a used car is also piracy in Gatygun view, or a used house, or a book, or a vhs/dvd/Blu ray? I wonder if he would want to ban all yardsales, ebay, etc? 😂 It's always been a idiotic viewpoint, even more so years and years later.

Logic seems to be a scarcity these days. 😔

Free games are useless to me. Always have been.

How about you just don't charge me a stupid monthly fee to get invaded in Demon's Souls. There's no good justification, and no keeping PSN servers up is not a good one. Sony is the one requiring PSN accounts to play games online just so they can charge you.

PS Plus (and GWG) games are pure garbage anyway, and have been for years.

@x_hedon: PS+ has dropped a lot of good and great games over the past few years, I don't pay attention to GwG unless somebody post a comparison thread so I can't really say how well it's doing.
