This is an example of how good level creation can make a game look much better. The amount of objects that have been finely placed in specific spots or the way a pile of scaffolding sits uneven. Games like GTA V and Uncharted do this really well. If you've got a good engine plus good talent for building levels or scenes full of finely placed detail, it can look closer to realism. If you get rid of the uniformed look of things whilst piling things into a scene it makes it look less like a game.
It obviously takes a lot longer to put together areas though. I think this is one of the problems with building realistic looking scenes in games these days. You can put so much detail in but it takes so much time to do it. I've thought about how they could get around that with some sort of procedural generation feature of an engine that can put maticulous detail into scenes itself but I guess that's a lot of work too.
The stuff they are working on for that engine is extremely impressive. I was skeptical after their E3 demo but this puts my mind to rest. Mass Entertainment is a fantastic dev that has done great work in the past. This engine looks really special and it looks like it was built under the specs of the PS4/Xbox One rather than just a port of the PS3/360.
It looks good, but really I hope they won't use AC mechanics and force you to climb onto buildings and similar structures in order to reveal parts of the map. That works in AC games, but it's incredibly annoying in Far Cry 3.
One thing that kinda of gets rid of fears of downgrading is that the game isn't comeing for PS3/360 so it's made for better tech so maybe it will look that good. I would fucking love if the game looked like that cos it's impressive as hell
The game looks beyond good. I love a game where you just look around and take things in. Exploration and survival in NYC. I'm gonna need a week off of work.

The main thing I could see getting downgraded is the amount of debris everywhere and the particle effects being slightly lower quality, the rest of it looks doable. If it does look like this though I don't think it'll run at 1080p on the consoles.
Game looks fantastic, unfortunately I really doubt it looks that good when it comes out. Speaking of which...does anyone know when an expected time frame for release is?
