What do you get when you take, flight simulator flying, boat simulator driving, forza horizon 3 physics and livery editor, nfs payback customization and tuning, GTA5 exploration, TDU apartment and garage first person walking, and A map with over 2900 Square miles?
You get the best damn racing game ever conceived, this is the pentacle, of everything a arcade racer could even dream of, wrapped in 24k gold and presented on a damn platinum platter.
first off the graphics... Goddam this is a pretty ass game, the environments, the cities, the back country roads the coastal roads, all full of life, very vibrant and drop dead gorgeous HDR visuals from the sun to mountains and city skylines gleaming on the horizon at night from literally miles away in the drawdistance( please do yourself a favor and fly over newyork or Los angeles at night, your jaw will promptly hit the floor) these graphics are a massive step up from Horizon 3 running on a PC. and just about any other open world racer that i have played..and i have played many.
The map.. 2900 square miles of open road, either you drive, fly or boat...either way it's almost mind numbing how large the environments are, Los angeles alone is the size of los santosX3, with highly detailed streets, traffic, pedestrians(you can't run over them) each area of the map has it's own feel, texas feels wayyyyy different than say california or florida, and there are so many roads and landsmarks to explore or find. and did i mention how beautiful this game is??? the map also has NO bounderies, you can literally go anywhere you want.
Physics, this was a big one, the first game handled like absolute garbage, these physics however are top notch, cars are weighty, have their own quirks, cars feel solid and connected to the road, especially in low speed cruising, i liken the physics to Forza horizon 3 respectively.
Customization, ...this is where it gets crazy, there is too many things to do for one car, my skyline R34 for instance had 40 front bumpers...33 rear...2 wide body styles...105 wheels...10 spoilers....15 hoods...14 side skirts...you get the picture, all these can be customized in the garage at your apartment, yes i said your apartment and i'll get to that later, there is your typical paint, but then you also have an indepth livery editior similar to forza, including uploading and sharing liveries etc.
Character customization... self explanitory,
Apartment and Garage customization, Straight out of Test drive unlimited, customize your apartment or garage, or customize your car or yourself if you feel like it...no Plastic surgery here though(sorry Test drive fans)
Cars...and other vehicles, this is where it shines, not only do you have classics like the porsche 959 or ferrari F40, in brilliant detail, that you can walk around, open up the doors or engine, sit inside and rev the hell out of the engine like in test drive unlimited, but there is a huge veraity of different car makes, from japanese classics to american muscle, to group B rally cars like the legendary Lancia delta S4.....to trophy trucks and dune/raid box trucks(seriously) the crew 2 has over 150(cars) 15(planes..including a spitfire) 13(boat) 1 helicopter and 1 hover craft.....yes, a hover craft. you can also switch cars on the fly... transform into a plane and land your car on top of the US trust bank tower in LA? sure why not. slide down a Casino in las vegas in a speed boat? knock yourself out. fly high into the sky, switch to a car, then a boat and try to land in the hudson river in NY? do it.... you can do what ever you want. whenever you want.
NO STORY MODE, you race however you want, whether it be streetracing or Pro racing on real life circuits like Leguna Seca, there is NO cliche' dumb stories, you get in, you do challenges, you explore, you buy more cars, race, cycle repeats.
The ui, it's nice, crisp and modern, the perfect UI for a game such as this, not in your face and breeze to explore.
closing thoughts, this game is a masterpeice, iv'e been playing the beta for 1 day now, have done alot of driving and comparisons, and i think this may be the driving game of the century....it's that damn good and polished.
Did Ubisoft really make this??? No seriously who made this, because this does not feel like a ubisoft title, it's way to polished....
10/10. Possibly the perfect arcade racer.
