Always thought GTA IV Physics were better, but i didn't realize the attention to detail in IV is so underrated.
It baffles me how is Rockstar able to make so much money selling the same game for more than 10 years... I mean, even the games not titled GTA are GTA with some sort of skin on top of the same gameplay structure.
GTAIV really is a masterpiece, but so is GTAV.
-only thing that mars GTAV is that it feels more arcadey. If they had made it more gritty and realistic, it wouldve rocked.
I think I enjoyed the campaign in GTA4 more, but the city in GTA5 is just more detailed, more stuff to do, greatly improved overall. I enjoyed both a lot though.

They know how to make an open world feel lived in.
Also have good writers. May not always be the most amazing plot but usually GTA plots are entertaining nonetheless.
I loved GTAIV, especially with TBOGT. I didnt recon much to GTAV and thought it was a forgettable game. The things I remember most about it were how disappointed I was that certain aspects were downgraded compared to GTAIV, in particular the physics when crashing a car or shooting people in the leg and watching them try to retain their balance.
A lot of this is forced hate. Everyone panned GTA 4 for being boring gameplay wise, and they made 5 more exciting and people still complain
GTA's IV and V are comparable to me. I love them both equally. IV is the superior third person game while V is meant to be played first person. If you compare them strictly in terms of third person IV would come out on top but everything that knocks V in that comparison makes in shine when played in first person. The whole of V is designed around that perspective actually. Gunplay has tons more nuance as does moving around and navigating the world. .
