I know that the game is already six months old, but I just got it today due to a price drop. I still want to talk about it, even if I'm super late to the party.

Tekken 7 has a lot of costumise options (althought less than previous Tekken games, like TTT2). The treasure mode is the way to get them. With loot boxes. Today I played many hours trying to get costumes for characters and other staff. But there are no microtrasnitons. The only way to get them is by PLAYING THE FUCKING GAME. Like it should be. Not like Shadow of War. It became really addicting for some hours, and I highly enjoyed.

.... Althought all of that could be changed since I'm only on first day with the game. What do you guys think?

So basically, like Forza 7 where you can't use real money? Cool.

I guess. It's still a gambling slot machine technique being used in video games.

So it's no mtx, and not progression relevant? I suppose so. Though I would still prefer being able to unlock things as part of achievements, it would be fine with me.

As long as it's Cosmetic, those are the kind of loot box I can tolerate.

You're guaranteed all of the costumes beyond a certain rank in treasure battle. Basically, once you reach higher ranks, the chance of getting character-specific items skyrockets. I know it was this way in 5 DR, 6 and TTT2 (ghost battle in these games).

So it isn't even really "loot boxes."

Don't play Tekken 6 or Tag 2. The rare drops is really bad there. You can play 100 matches before you get an aura or an effect. In 7, it took me 30 to get everything for Law.

Yes, that is how you should unlock things in games. Now, if only idiot gamers stopped paying for items in games, we'd start seeing more of this.

@Ant_17:

OK that could be a downside of a system like this. They shouldn't overestimate the average time a consumer puts into such a game.

@Ant_17: that's because t7 has like a fifth of the customization content that 6 had.

Ttt2 had less than t6, but the roster was huge, and you still had more options than t7

There's no such thing as "loot boxes properly" unless it's a F2P game

and even that is debatable.

On your T7 example: Why an RNG system? Why not unlock those things properly by playing the game? Like the good old days?

That is how you unlock it. Like I said, you're guaranteed your player specific items beyond a certain rank. In T7, it should take you about an hour (if you consistently win in treasure/ghost battle, which isn't hard).

It all depends how deep the grind is, as long as that is reasonable it is fine with me. But even if they had a few special skins only purchasable from real money. I would not have a problem with that either.

These high profile online games require constant maintenance and funding to keep operating smoothly, there are some exceptions of course. But these types of games they have a hard time staying relevant online with just the base 60$ model, so if the devs needs extra cash for tournaments, online events, etc as long as it does not affect the core balance of the game and I can still get tons of stuff from normal gameplay, I'm good. Why would a dev cut himself off from a potential income that could help the game in the long run, I think games can have microtransactions and be well balanced too.

I can't tell really.

It lacks goofy hair extensions, but has way more shirt options, plus the rainbow sets.

@Ant_17: yeah that's one thing not in the other ones.

you could also make custom logos or designs on many items in ttt2.

man I miss that game. It is one of the best games ever.

We might get a remaster.

Would be great to beat the shit out of people with the Law family.
