Why not? Sony created the precedent, other publishers followed, I don't see how and why would Nintendo skip on free money. Their games have the highest demand, it's not surprising if they go for $70... sorry $69.99.

Probably one of the games i'd allow the pricing. Is it shitty? Yes. Did BotW just pack the fucking content? Yes. I'm on my 4th/5th playthough of BotW atm, but Hogwart's Legacy has taken over.

Unfortunate to see but not unexpected. I am a bit surprised they did it with the current Switch games. I thought they’d wait until they brought out their next system.

Isn't it insulting how Nintendo has the ballz to charge $70 for a game that looks like its from 2005-2006, GUARANTEED to run way under 30fps and have a standard resolution from the early 2000's. With how simplistic their assets are, and the fact that they barely know what voice acting even is, their games should be sold for no more than $24.99😅

They're so damn far behind third party devs, sony and even MS.

I would assume that's the Canadian price. Or maybe this is how they plan to pay for their 10% employee salary increases.

Amazon is no longer taking pre-orders for the game at this time. Additionally, Best Buy’s listing has been pulled. GameStop is currently up, but that could change soon.

I wonder if that price increase was aiming for next-gen Nintendo consoles? I can't imagined Nintendo would start increasing it's 1st-party games prices this very late into the Switch cycle. Not unless a next-gen is on its way of course. (Or Nintendo was passing out hints next-gen is coming soon then we thought)

@lamprey263: All I know is that the current standard price for Switch games here is $80 CAD as were the standard price for the other console games until the price increase. Ever since the increase happened the newly priced games are $90 CAD. So yeah the $60 USD games sell for $80 here and $70 USD ones are $90 here.

Bleh. 70 bucks. Forever known as the Save Sony tax.... At least with Sony and Microsoft you can wait out the premium price and get it cheaper reletively quickly after release. With Nintendo? Pshh. you may get ten bucks off if your lucky.

The one thing I'll say though is Nintendo will likely ship a finished and optimized game. That means something.

I was paying 50 for my Nintendo games, both for handheld games as well as any mainline console games on the Wii U.

I never understood Zelda Breath of the Wild being 70 and we all know Nintendo games never go down in price.

Nintendo: none of the advantages but all of the disadvantages.

MS opened the door for $70 Switch games and I guess Nintendo is stepping through. Hopefully Zelda won't have the same performance issues.

It was only a matter of time before Nintendo followed suit. I guess I just assumed they would do it on their next-gen system, not Switch.

Ouch. I can understand Sony/MS and AAA 3rd parties doing it. Pushing a PS5/XSX/PC costs an absolutely boat load of money (seriously, the wallet is the current bottleneck in the industry).

But the switch is basically a PS3 Pro....thats a rough ask (if true).
