Team Ninja: Nioh will never be on Xbox

Xbox players can enjoy Wo Long instead.

An interview with the director of the Nioh franchise Fumihiko Yasuda and the producer behind Bloodborne Masaaki Yamagiwa has recently been published by VGC, during which the developers have talked about Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty as well as the possibility of having other Team Ninja titles on Xbox.

When Team Ninja's Yasuda was asked if there is a chance for Xbox players to play Nioh 1 or 2 in the future, the director replied that "there’s not really too much of a possibility of having Nioh on Xbox platforms."

Both Nioh titles were launched as PlayStation console exclusives, and it seems like the deal between Sony and Koei Tecmo for the exclusivity of the game is stronger than expected.

Makes sense now why MS continues to buy up studios. What say you fellow SW members? Do you think Nioh should be available on more platforms even though Sony published the games? It sounds like it would be be a great Game Pass title. Feel free to chime in.

Nioh is published by Tecmo and Sony. Wo Long is published by Tecmo only.

I'd say that the argument should be that both companies do this and it's hypocritical for one to call out the other for it.

That is too bad for people who own an Xbox exclusively. Considering Sony is involved with the publishing though, it isn't surprising.

Does it matter? Nioh 1 and 2 pretty much run on a potato PC. If you really wanted to play it, you'd find a way.

Not trying to "down play" it, but just saying, PS4 games aren't that demanding. It's basically a shit CPU and a GTX 750. Although the PC system requirements are higher than that, by now they're pretty old.

If people change the way they think about PC gaming... Look, if you want to game on a budget, you can build a good PC. Even if it can't play the latest AAA XSX/PS5 gen games, you can still build something good enough to play thousands of amazing older games really well.

MLB made them do that since MLB owns the IP. It was part of their new contract.

The minute it goes to Windows Microsoft will make some money.

Damn I remember back when Team Ninja made good exclusive games for the OG Xbox like Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. Unfortunately after Itagaki left the quality of those series dropped.

Nioh has good gameplay but I doubt it would sell well on X1X anyway. Unless it was free to rent on the Netflix of gaming ‘aka’ game pass.

Color me surprise as I thought Nioh was always on Xbox consoles so that's new to me it never was.

I played the first Nioh and I didn't like it all that much. It's not a must play, if you ask me .

Sony seems to have console publishing rights for the game outside of Japan. Nice this relationship probably led to that Ronin game deal. Hyped for that game its what I always wanted, more feudal era to pre empire of japan stuff. Long it may continue.

The game looks and feels pretty unique, but the truth is, it isn't that good of a game. In fact, it is kind of strange at times, if not downright boring.

It is pretty funny that Team Ninja popularity started on the Xbox, but decided to jump ship before the Xbox sank to the bottom of the ocean. Thank gawd that Sony was there to save them .

It really is. And i think that the main reason is the level design. Its downright shit. Reminds me of the ps2 era levels, where everything looked very similar, and you're never impressed with the location you find yourself in.

I'm not sure why anyone would care. Microsoft has two gaming platforms and gets 99% of everything over those platforms, including nioh.

Tried the alpha of the first one, wasn't a fan of the diablo loot in an action game.

Never say never. Sony has made similar statements countless times.

But yes, if you desperately want to play these games, just play them on PC.

Other than the shitty level design and extremely repetitive enemies variety, diablo loot was the worst part of the game. I have no idea how its still in Wo Long.

This is what i always hear (and agree), it has a great combat system. What else? Literally nothing. On the other hand, everything is great in Fromsoft titles, and that's why their games are far ahead of what Team Ninja releases. Its about the whole package, and that's something Team Ninja hasn't delivered since NG2.

Team Ninja shits all over Fromsoft though.

Didn't even know that was a game coming out? lol I doubt anybody cares that much about it and it will probably make its way to PC.
