System Shock vs Dead Space. Which Q1 2023 remake will be better?

Oof tough one, I'm going to go with System Shock, as I love first person games. And I have faith in Night Dive studio that they're not a one trick poney.

System shock remake will get 6/10 sadly here. critics will call it outdated.

Dead space will get 9/10

Even better, if the soyboy reviewers with the brain of a capuchin get mad because the game is simplu too hard for them and it requires them to "think" in a shooter it reveals to me the game has reached its goal as it weeds out the fluff.

I'd be very interested in System Shock if they made a new game that isn't casualized for the masses. I don't want any remasters or whatever this one is. Give me a new game in UE5.

A remake of Dead Space really isn't needed. The original still looks and plays well and costs like 2 dollars. A slightly updated version for 70? LOL, gtfo.

System shock is entirely new game. new OST, new voice acting, everything is new.

Dead Space will most probably be the better game, but I'm more interested on System Shock.

DS doesn't need a remake and SS really needs it. Also I played System Shock it in 95, so I feel the nostalgia pull.

I never played original SS. despite SS2 is my second fav game of all time (next to Deus Ex).

Unfortunately they will suffer from Ghost hype syndrome.

Isn't it just the first game, tho? If so, this is a remaster, not even a remake. They should've went with a remake and use visuals that look like they're from this decade, but instead, the only thing that looks good is the lighting.

Unlike System Shock, Dead Space does not really need a remake, so SS wins by default.

this is indie remake. they dont have AAAA budget or big giant publisher behind back.

The Dead Space remake will do excellent on it's own, as it has its own fanbase established. EA will definitely pull in new people too with it being on the new gen hardware. As for System Shock, I suspect it will do average. How many people are even aware of the original? I'm only aware of the name and that's about it. Wasn't Bioshock going to be System Shock before they just made it it's own game entirely?

SShock will be the best one for me, though ill probably enjoy them both.

System Shock easily. Dead Space doesn't need a remake while System Shock is very deserving. If they can keep it true to the original with the overall atmosphere, but change the story, puzzles etc enough to feel original, it will be amazing. The original System Shock was amazing and I have high hopes for the remake. The long development and constant delays have me a bit worried, but I'm really hoping they can pull it off.

Probably System Shock, if it turns out good.

Dead Space is baby horror that made console journalists go "ohh eee ahhh" at jump scares and gore.

Real men with big balls and stuff were playing System Shock 2.

Nothing against Dead Space but...why Dead Space? Still looks decent, still plays well, still runs on modern platforms.

Yeah, these remakes are getting out of control. So many old games on outdated game engines worthy of remakes and they go and remake games that still look good and have been remastered already.

True, RE is also action games with jump scares. I'd say Dead Space is scarier than RE, thanks to the enemies, and feels more horror than RE.

But RE came when people were a child, so it will always automatically be much better, and the same faults it's sharing with Dead Space will be ignored.

I remember when Dead Space came and RE went the RE5 route, and later the horrible RE6. Dead Space was the new RE for me. Was very glad of having that game when Capcom decided to **** RE up.

And RE have sucked ever since. Dead Space had two games of three that were great. RE has had how many games that sucks balls now? Dead Space looks like the more stable series..

I dont even like dead space games but its far and away better than RE when it comes to horror.

none of RE games are horror except RE7.

And it sucked. Hopefully, RE goes back to pure action where it can still be fun instead of the scripted events thing they're doing now.

RE7 is only horror game. RE4 was action game. a mediocre one which I hope RE4R will fix it. but still action game.

RE2R is action game with horrror elements and thats only third person RE game I like and second to RE7 only.

RE4 was so much better than RE7 and RE8 it's not even funny. Even RE5, which everyone hated because they doubled down on action, is way better than those two.

RE2R was cool. Better than RE4? Nah.

You could blame my nostalgia goggles, but when I revisit the game frequently, last time being last year, and can see in minutes what I loved about the game and still love, it's not just nostalgia dude.

Can't shoot while walk? Yeah, that is indeed how the game was designed, and was very well designed around that fact. Again - wtf?

this is lazy design. if it want to be action game it need to be walk or run and gun. if horror than walk, shoot or hide.

Gunplay fun? LOL you never played Max payne. that game gunplay is still near perfect. the combat, movement etc.

I have played Max Payne, but too little of it to feel comfortable talking about it in a way that I have truly played it. Me playing Max Payne or not, you know I'm not a stranger to good gunplay.

And yeah. Seems like a great game. Pretty awesome, in fact. But I fail to see how it makes RE4 worse, a very different game to Max Payne with very different gunplay to Max Payne.
