People are starting to post pictures of their Switches developing what looks to be heat-induced stress cracks that occur along the back right side of the system and on or near the exhaust fan. From the video, it sounds like the majority of those that suffered cracks are primarily dock users. I use mine primarily for handheld, so if extreme heat is really to blame for all these cracks, then it would make sense that handheld users aren't encountering the same problems due to the system running cooler in reduced power.

Any Switch owners here have any cracks on their Switches? Mine does have a slight bend to it, but other than that, it's completely structurely sound.

Yeah I saw this the other day. Before I got a Switch I thought that I’d mainly play it in docked mode but I find myself mainly playing it in portable mode. So far I have no bend or cracks in my system. *knocks on wood*

It should be covered in warranty. Will keep an eye on this story. Honestly You can replace the shells and customize pretty easy.

Yeah heard about this the other day... one of the dudes at IGN posted pics of his Switch cracking and bulging at the back.

Must be battery pack expanding from heat I'd say.

One of the posts mentioned in the video said he noticed his cracks a month after the warranty expired... Ain't that how it always is?

If it becomes a bigger ordeal, the warranty timeline won't matter. Nintendo will take care of people.

@n64dd: @JustPlainLucas: Yeah for sure. Yeah I think if this becomes a widespread issue I think Nintendo will take steps to rectify it.

If my switch had 100 cracks on the back side, all I would care about is if it could still play Project Orctopath Traveler and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker this Friday! Wahoo!

I have a small crack on The top left side near the power and volume buttons. Don't know what caused it though.

Edit: Found a video, that's exactly the same spot as mine.

Yeah, I would assume so. I doubt it will be anywhere near as widespread as the RRODs, though... I went through five damn 360s until I got a working one (one was a video card issue, though).

Yeah, the video shows several pictures of a crack not only in the same spot about it appears to be the same size and shape as well. I'm guessing it's due to how it's molded.

The dock is such a piece of shit. I get that they wanted it this way for aesthetics but it's really a piece of garbage. I have trouble with mine heating up the switch, it struggles to grab the input at times, put scratches on my screen. I'm a big fan of the Switch but I absolutely hate the ergonomics of the dock.

Oh I thought it was an English saying/slang. Like they're crack'n / doing good.

If your Nintendo product goes kaput right after warranty expires, give Nintendo a call anyway. They tend to have extremely good customer care.

No cracks on mine, but 70% of the time it’s used undocked. This is quite alarming though...

My launch unit is fine. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo cheaped out on the materials for later models since it’s already known how inconsistent the LCDs are. I barely play my switch on the dock and I always play it on the go anyways with no issues at all.

Thankfully I don't play mine enough for this to happen. I imagine IGN's gets played all the time and gets passed around a lot.

Such an expensive console shouldn't have basic problems like these.

The dock scratching the Switch itself was bad enough.

I tossed the dock in the trash. My use of it is about 3 hours in a day, every 4 days. And i don't play while it charges.

Is it me, or does it seem like a hastily developed system they scrambled up in reaction to the failure of the Wii U?

Haven't had mine for long, so I haven't noticed. Barely play it docked, weirdly enough, unless I'm playing Street Fighter (I need my Pokken controller to play that one or any fighter as soon as I get more).

Actually their consoles are infamous for outliving and outlasting other consoles. They dropped Wii's and gamecubes from great heights that still worked.

@lightsbane: It's pretty unbelievable how shitty the Dock is. I noticed a ton of micro scratches on my Switch after about 2 months and I was extremely careful. Ended up getting a glass screen protector so my screen doesn't look like shit in a year. This is a very cheap piece of hardware.

My Switch has a Slight bend to it but no cracks.

I play 50/50 dock and handheld and I charge in the Dock. Probably why mine is bending.

My Samsung S7 completely cracked its shell just under the camera from a 1 foot drop from my pocket to the office chair leg...

s*it happens.

Ofcourse, the cow circle jerkers are in here at it again.

2 PS4 Pro's now, both sound like Wind Turbines, you are in no position to talk. 3rd times the charm maybe.
