Wowza.. and here you guys are talking about tera flops and all this other stuff when the underpowered console and least graphically intensive game are kicking ass! I'm not gonna lie though, I still want a Switch Pro lol.

Missus just asked for it after a week of asking "Do you think I'd like that?". All she plays is sims 4. Knowing her she will.

Wowzerz, seems real floppy numbers compared to Nintendonts previous Handhelds? Perhaps they should just give up, they'll never catch Smartphones, their only mobile gaming competitor, at this pace. :P

Really amazing to see Switch sell strongly especially given the current situation. 55 million in 3 years is damn good. The 3DS sold 43 million in the same period.

And 3DS peaked in year 1. Switch might not have even peaked yet. It could beat 3DS this FY.

Some great numbers there. It’s a shame that the Switch is supply constrained right now. Crazy numbers for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I’m totally loving the game right now myself.

It seems that the Switch has sold more units than the Nintendo 64 and GameCube combined. The next goal is to pass the lifetime sales of the NES/Famicom (61.91).

Switch shipped 21.03 million units last FY. This beats PS4's best FY by over a million.

I'm not surprised. It'd probably be a lot higher if there weren't shortages everywhere.

I could only imagine how piss poor gaming would've been if Sony and MS released nothing else but games and systems 100% aimed at casuals. This market is great for Nintendo, they're printing money like EPIC does with their Fortnite. But what does it do to an actual gamer looking to play a variety of games? Nothing. You're forced to own another system if you don't want to go insane. Nintendo systems are the only ones that forces you to own another system. Why? Because they're lacking at everything.

The Switch Lite is a system seller. No 3DS and cost effective. It was a done deal on inception.

@hardwenzen: I mean, there's a fuckton of great games on the Switch. You can go as casual or as niche as you like.

The Switch has rapidly become my primary console. I barely turn on my PS4, and I've rebought a heap of PC games because I prefer the flexibility of the Switch.

I've probably got around 100 games on the Switch at this point, and my partner plays Animal Crossing and Pokemon. It's a win-win for both of us.

Why though? Besides price it loses out on a lot of what the original Switch can do. If Nintendo made or makes if BC with the ds/3ds, that would be crazy.

I usually own all the consoles of a generation anyway but this time I avoided Xbox (power brick). PS$ is a great system but I cant play it in my bed or on a plane, I also can't play Zelda on it or any of the Nintendo games I love. I've got a Switch for Nintendo exclusives and portability and a PS4 for my multiplats. Next Gen I'll have an Xbox for Halo and multiplats. Variety of hardware works.

Good for them. Glad I got the game for $10 though, phew.

Edit: I got a $50 gift card from work and used it to buy Animal Crossing that’s why I only had to pay $10 plus taxes for it.

This isn’t surprising. Isn’t the regular Switch like 3 years old? It’s the form factor of the Switch Lite that is driving sales and thanks to Covid 19 digital sales are up and animal Crossing is like the hottest thing right now.

According to Nintendo at least 40% of Animal Crossing players are female.

A few years ago, Satoru Iwata (when he was alive) said New Leaf had 56% female users and 44% male users. But now for New Horizons, Nintendo says the user base is 60% male and 40% female. Which means New Horizons has been able to draw a lot of new male players.
