PS3 beats Wii60 once again.

It's nice to see it is doing well. :)

To be fair it is a new system so you expect it to do well when the other systems have been on the market comparatively longer

It's also outpacing PS4- PS4 took 7 weeks to sell 500k. Switch did it in 4 weeks.

Good for Japan?

It's a mobile-centric market nowadays so it is encouraging to see that there is interest (seeing as it's trying to find a place alongside your phone). Splatoon 2 will be the big one, in my mind, to drive systems.

But to keep things in context, Nintendo is Japan's homeboy, and up until late last year the Wii U sold more units in Japan than the PS4 (going by VGChartz, which blah blah blah, but I ain't got time to dig through NPD or its equivalent's sales, so I'll live with the general snapshot). Measuring Switch against PS4 - which itself has not performed great in Japan - is not necessarily a strong indicator one way or the other.

handheld options and Zelda are both big reasons why it sell so much in Japan

Also the fact that more Switches are in stock also helped Jumped Zelda: BotW up to second place again. It has strong legs, something that not a lot of game publishers can't do.

Not surprised given that it's portable in nature and Japan loves portables. Now it's up to Nintendo to keep up with worldwide demand, which of course, they haven't been doing very well thus far in that regard.

I love it when a good plan works accordingly. I want me some of that GameBoy Japanese gaming goodness for once in my life but am totally not a handheld gamer. Switch is going to get Japanese dev support which suits me quite well. Jolly good!

Damn, the PS4 got bitch slapped into next week. Great news for Switch.

It's selling slower than expected (or low shipments) i was expecting it to do 3DS numbers since it's a handheld in the land of handhelds.

I bet grandmas bought those 115 Xbones.

The interesting sales will be the end of year and more importantly 2018 sales to see how it reaches the wider audience. Regardless, it's a good start.

@kvally: yep. I don't know what the price of the Ps4 was at launch but you can definitely buy a regular PS4 for cheaper than a Switch now.

Yup. $260 vs $300. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo was profiting $100 per Switch.

Japan will always be NintendoLand. Anyway you know what I've noticed or haven't noticed, has there been a PSVR game that made a sales list? I guess not even in Japan they like VR?

Wow, Switch sold 78,000 and Zelda only sold 39,000. What are the other half of those people playing?

PS4 is 100 dollars more and doesnt appeal to as wide of an audience as the Switch

I think it's still just new system honeymoon period, but I also predicted that Zelda would be an instant system seller. Nintendo made a very smart move launching the Switch with Zelda.

On handheld devices, Japan is not Sony land.

I know it's new, but in the long run I still expect Switch to do better than PS4 there due to its handheld capabilites, Japanese love them handhelds. New Pokemon game will make sure of that.
