Switch offering rip off prices for its enhanced ports

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze will be releasing on Switch at $59.99 This is literally the same game from the Wii U version with maybe just one new optional mode.

The World Ends With You HD will be also be $59.99

This is some serious milkage by Nintendo. They've done ports before, but not on this level of cash grab. You think the price is justified, SW?

I agree that they overprice a lot of their stuff. I think the world ends with you should be $39.99, and Donky Kong should be $49.99. Hyrule Warriors with all of the DLC (quite a bit I might add) is well worth the $59.99 that is charged for it.

Nintendo cares about gamers and would never overprice their merchandise.

They are high, but I think they'll drop quick and the interest will drop off pretty fast too, so Nintendo are factoring this in.

No need for the VC when you can resell last generation games at full price. I have been wondering if that is one of the reasons they dont talk about the VC.

I'd still pay full price for both of those games, yes I'm a sucker, but those games are fun and I want to play them on my Switch.

Agree, but for stuff I want like Bayonetta, I will pay the king's ransom, but for third party multiplats I won't bother if I can get them on other consoles cheaper.

I'd say DK Tropical Freeze is easily worth that price for those that haven't played the game yet. I have played it on the Wii U, and as much as I loved the game, I don't know if I feel like spending 60$ on it again.

I haven't played TWEWY myself. If the game is as good as I hear I have no qualms spending 60$ on it.

It's all about perspective. If someone really wants to play one of those games but never owned a Wii U or a Nintendo DS, then the full price for the new experience, new modes and or graphics, and the portability may justify the sixty bucks. I don't think I'll buy them at that price, however.

This is one of the few things i dislike about the Switch. The ports are hella overpriced.

Nintendo's pricing has always been high, and they also don't let their games fall to bargain prices very often. It is frustrating. I love Nintendo gaming, but it's just a small part of the complete picture, and I vastly prefer how Sony and MS do things in terms of how games are priced at new, and the way they have a progression towards the bargain bin over time.

I'm just waiting for the switch mod community to crack that kernal should be any day now and I'll play Mario Odyssey on my 835 arm cpu phone.

This is quite the bullshit, but the third parties pretty much follow suit as well, like you pointed out with Square, but WB (LEGO City), Bethesda (Skyrim), and Ubisoft (Rayman) as well.

Yeah that's lame. Super lame for those who already have these games. I'd love to have DK on Switch, I have it on WiiU, but for 60 bucks? No thanks. I can buy a new game for that.

In all honesty some of those old games that are ported on the Switch are a big ripoff. In Canada both Skyrim and Doom (2016) are over $90 on the Switch even though I can get both the better versions of these games on PC for dirt cheap.

They made some of the best remasters/remakes ever. And not in the graphical sense but in improving the games. So I'll wait to see what they've done with these games.

Nintendo games are quality, because Nintendo are passionate for the experience to provide the people who play their games.

But even i think that sometimes they charge too much. I mean, a HD remake is virtually the same price as it was originally on the console it first came out on. And they hardly have decent sales on software as well. I'm a Nintendo fan deep down, and i intend to get a Switch down the line (hopefully when a small fortune arrives in my hands later this year)

Not only are Wii U ports like Mario Kart 8 and Donkey Kong Country rediculously overpriced (bought them for 40 euro on Wii U, they are now 60 euro on Switch eventhough they are much older now)

Their games also never go down in price, so you'll get ripped off no matter when you buy them.
