It's nice to see that they went all out this year. Competitive gaming on Xbox One is well on its way!

I somehow doubt this is what Microsoft had in mind when when they were pushing eSports pre Halo 5 launch. Just add it to the list of misfires this gen...

Meh. They are still putting out a $1 million prize pool and have a strong online community. Sadly, if you are not a Halo fan, Halo 5 is a tough game to watch.

EDIT: I'll assume that Sunday will have a strong presence both online and in person with the actual finals occurring then.

@ProtossRushX: After the million dollar prize pool, it looks like they had about $146.62 left for decorations. That would explain why they obviously reused some kids birthday balloons from last week.

I mean, maybe it's not a fair comparison, but... Street Fighter V fucking bombed. Yet the SFV events (and there are a fuckton of them) still stay slam packed. You could go to some backwoods SFV local in the middle of bum fvck and still see a better venue with a bigger turnout than that lol.

Agreed. Its hard to say why exactly it is the way it is. Community turn out for Halo 2 and 3 were insane and dropped off steadily since then. Part of me is convinced that Halo 5 just isn't that fun too watch unless you are deeply invested in the game. As far as I am aware, the competitive community is still very active in Halo 5, sadly the attendance this weekend doesn't help prove that.

Cherry picked images of before and after the event, this thread is dishonest, not the OP necessarily but its presentation and the information therein. Also the original venue they were seeking could not be secured so they had to settle for this location, it's not a great spot but this narrative about the event itself and its attendance is wholly dishonest.

This picture right here for example is overflow, the event inside reached capacity and people were forced to take seats in the tent.

I'll admit, I haven't put any serious hours into a Halo game since Halo 3. And the last one I was addicted to was Halo 2. So I have no idea where the series is at quality/fun wise.

But from what I've been hearing (at least around here) is that the game is still going strong and if anything engagement is on the rise? So yeah, it's bewildering to see a turn out like this for such a huge franchise, especially when the community is allegedly doing great.

Of course I'm just going off the few pics in the OP, no info beyond that. But it does look pathetic all things considered lol.

@okaykid: By the way in the end the boost mode on the PS4 Pro improved the framerate drops on Bloodborne. I remember I was about to own you with that when you got banned. So PWNED!!!!

None of us are privy to the info on why you were banned, but a lot of peeps do want to see you back, even the cows haha. I think @silversix_misses you the most, oddly enough.

My argument was never about framerate drops, Bloodborne has very little drops in general. The issue was always the frame pacing, Boost Mode does nothing for erratic frame timing... So, PWNED!?!

Also I'm talking to you right now not at all hiding who I am, ban methods appear to be super effective.

The frame pacing was also improved so OWNED again!

I doubt this on every functional level, yep it did nothing for the frame pacing exactly as I said all along.

@dakur: To be fair, I for one will say I do miss Dynamite, we may not agree with one another but I do respect his ultimate gaming collections and that's just about as much respect as I can give for him.

Not a big fan of Halo 5 but i see 35,000 people watching it on Twitch TV. For a game thats a couple of years old and its a Saturday thats not a bad viewership.
