Super Smash Bros. Direct at 7 a.m. PT (10 a.m. ET)

A new Super Smash Bros. Direct will air on August 8 (Wednesday), Nintendo has announced. The presentation will deliver the latest information about Smash Bros. Ultimate, as hosted by director Masahiro Sakurai.

I will air at the following times:

– 7 AM PT in North America

– 10 AM ET in North America

– 3 PM in the UK

– 4 PM in Europe

Assuming that I'll need to buy a GC controller, adapter, and have an online subscription to play the game (with my friends online), in addition to the $79.99 CDN price tag of the game...I think I'll pass. I do like the massive cast of the fighters this time around, but I can't justify the price atm. I still have those garbage controllers that came with the Switch ffs.

I think also new character reveals.

Wasn’t the E3 show enough? I’m just as excited about Smash as the next person, but show us non-showcased yet games Nintendo.

Gamecube controlls for modern smash games is nothing but hipster bullshit :P

Agreed- the gamecube controllers still made sense for the Wii due to the bizarre button layout of the wii remote/nunchuck, but since last gen when they went to a more traditional layout, the controllers have been fine.

SSB Ultimate at E3 2018 is more then enough for me and I don't wanna be spoiled anymore. I saw what I like, I already pre-order my copy, and I'm avoiding SSB Ultimate news/vids until December 7th!

also the online modes are where they get their practice.

They want to play on Final Destination with no itmes.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this direct tomorrow. Would love to see some more single player content like some kind of campaign mode or something. Am also hoping to see some new characters.

lol there is no way I'd be able to use the Switch default controller(s) for SSB. I struggle enough aiming the bow in BOTW with them. I do think I will pick up a Pro controller at some point this year. Unfortunately, the regular price is $89.99 CDN. Gonna have to wait until Black Friday or Boxing week at least.

So stoked! Im guessing there will be single player modes revealed as well as a newcomer.

Having so many controller options is great. I used to be a huge supporter of the GC controller, but I just cant go back from a Pro controller now.

Holy moses the amount of options are INSANE. The word ULTIMATE in the title is not a joke.

Not gonna lie I was iffy about ultimate but once I saw the castlevania stuff I jumped back on the hype train. The KK rool trailer was awesome. I loved all those new game modes. Also jesus thats a lot of stages and music

Well, they delivered the goods today.

Holy hell!!! This game is going to be AMAZING!!! Simon and Richter Belmont, K. Rool, stage morphing, 103 stages, over 900 music tracks, option settings galore, etc. I’m so hyped for this game. The wait is going to be torturous. Easily going to be a GotY contender. Ultimate indeed.

Well if you're in the tournament scene, then yeah. But that's only a small cancerous minority. The majority of Smash fans play it casually and would get into the single player mode. Personally, I want subspace emissary back.

Game looks great... hard to pass on at this point, even for casual fans of the series like myself.

@luxuryheart: Yeah, hard to believe that when they release a GC controller when the game comes out.

It's mostly for a vocal minority. You know, the vocal minority crying for another Melee when the fanbase EXPANDED AFTER Melee.

Of course the tournament scene is a decent sized based, but they are not the majority at all. The majority of Smash players are probably having more casual matches at get togethers or bullshitting around friends and family.

I'm expecting them to include every single player mode from all of the previous games along with a new one.

Just a thought: why cannot Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive, Tekken, King of Fighters, Mortal Kombat, and other well-known fighting franchises reach the number of fighters and soundtrack of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
