Super Mario Odyssey won E3 2017 Best of Show: Game Critics Awards

Super Mario Odyssey was also chosen as “Best Console Game” and “Best Action/Adventure Game”. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle also took home a couple of awards as did Metroid: Samus Returns.

Ubisoft>Nintendo>MS>EA>Sony in this order, I think Ubi did well at E3 2017, but I can also agree Nintendo show off some really cool games I'm looking forward to but there's no doubt in my mind Super Mario: Odyssey was the showstopper for Nintendo conference however. Looking forward to Odyssey this October.

Once I see the Switch version Pokemon up and running, I'll probably make the jump towards a Switch.

EDIT: Good for Mario Odyssey though. Nintendo can clearly still make awesome games.

Spiderman was my game of show but Mario Odyssey was definitely top 5.

Spiderman wasn't eligible, if this is the same list as gaf, it only included games that were playable for 5mins or more at e3

Lol... it's funny how other games on other platforms get heavily criticised for being to 'same old, same old' each release, but never seems to apply for Nintendo.

Odyssey does look cool, but was that really the absolute best game people saw at E3? Hmmm. Each to their own I guess.

Goes to show you those over-the-shoulder, heavily cutscened, heavily QTEed, "cinematic" games are just not what people want.

I would say Microsoft's games got shit on too, but they didn't show any off.

The Mario games may share similarities, particularly visually but they are loaded with creative ideas.

Super Mario Odyssey is looking to be incredibly different from any other Mario game, and is looking anything but "same old, same old."

If you're not into Mario, then that's okay, whatever, but saying Odyssey is samey is ridiculous.

the hat/possession mechanic is something never before seen in a Mario game, and that alone probably has countless possibilities behind it and will probably have Mario controlling various things to accomplish different tasks and dealing with different obstacles.

The game is going ham when it comes to settings, characters, enemies, designs, styles, what have you.

They're getting rid of lives finally and instead punishing death by making the player lose coins.

This game will allow you to change Mario's outfit, and each outfit has their own gimmick/power/mechanic I believe.

Super Mario Odyssey is breaking the mold of Mario platformers more than any other Mario platformer has.

Nintendo sure knows how to make excellent games.

Well, I can't really say I disagree on your perspective.

Sony did show off some nice looking games and I think are worthy of some praise but I also saw Nintendo as the winner of E3, and honestly if you didn't you're probably not a very honest gamer. As far as MS goes...I don't think there is any more to say.

As a PS fan I have to agree at some degree. Sony is focusing too much on TLoU formula. Even GoW is now a TLoU wanna be and that saddens me. TLoU is fantastic but fofvckssake Sony, vary a little... Days Gone is the same sh*t

Why not ? Its optional, noone will make you pay for it. Game looks amazing, plays amazing for an action/cinematic game and if its open world will be really awesome. The only thing im worried is that ... game might get a serious downgrade. That E3 footage was too good to be true technicaly and production values wise for it to run like that on 4K.
