SUPER MARIO MAKER
OVERVIEW
Super Mario Maker is a level editor where players can utilize four different styles of Mario levels: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U. The physics, enemy behavior, etc. are change accordingly, with some like Super Mario Bros. having enemies that weren't there originally like Boos. The game comes with 100 pre-made courses for you to play to your heart's content.
GAME MODES
Super Mario Maker while also including 100 pre-made courses also offers obviously, a level editor for you to manipulate. There are nine sets of items that you will be able to use throughout the game, but you'll have to play in the level editor for at least five minutes each day for nine days to unlock all items. A downer for sure, but as some have pointed out, it does give you time to adjust and learn how to make courses on your own. Plus, you get to customize the hand cursor, which could be a dog paw, a cat paw, Mario's glove, etc.
You will also unlock other things to create levels with like backgrounds or sound effects (as well as a sound effect of your own voice, though not allowed online, I believe).
Along with that you'll be able to share and play other creators' courses, you can choose from the most popular, featured, or up and coming.
Another mode, 100 Mario Challenge gives you 100 lives to complete several courses on either easy, medium, and hard while playing through random selected courses that fit any one of those three difficulties. If you don't have a good Internet connection you can basically do the same thing, with the 10 Mario Challenge with eight courses (easy) or 16 courses (normal) to complete from Nintendo's pre-made ones.
AMIIBO
Ah, yes, can't have a new Nintendo game without mentioning these little things. Though, at least in my opinion, their functionality is actually pretty cool this time, with each character giving you a sprite version of themselves after touching a Mystery Mushroom.
And if you really want to drive yourself nuts, you can try and get the 30th anniversary Mario amiibo:
MUSIC
The music for Super Mario Maker is composed solely by Koji Kondo who made the Ocarina of Time soundtrack as well and it will be his first time being the sole composer since OoT as well.
GAMEPLAY
To end it I'll leave some videos highlighting the game's insane, chaotic, and fun gameplay.
