Sunset Overdrive on PC Rated by the ESRB

Earlier this year, a Korean rating board revealed the existence of a PC version of Xbox open world game Sunset Overdrive. Now, the ESRB has rated the game for Windows, suggesting an announcement is almost certainly in the works.

As reported by Gematsu, the listing is up on the ESRB's website right now. Sunset Overdrive launched on Xbox One back in 2014, the work of Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games, which recently made the excellent Spider-Man game on PS4. I'd say it's one of the few notable Xbox exclusives to come out of this generation, a few Forzas, Halos and Sea of Thieves aside. Critical reception at the time was pretty positive.

The ESRB, as is its job, lists some of what might be called 'adult' content in the game. Reading this can be fun, because it sounds like they hired one of your grandparents to go through this stuff. "During the course of the game, characters and environmental elements reference sexual behavior or humor (e.g., “Oh, such a bold statement! It says, 'I am a prostitute!'" and "How hard was it to make a porn flip book?" ); a radio ad contains a running joke about a sex burger (e.g., "It's so good you won't be able to contain your urges to rub it all over your Sex…Burger")".

Uh huh. And so on. We'll keep you updated if Sunset Overdrive on PC becomes a real thing.

So Xbox just lost 50% of their real exclusives lol. Even more irrelevant.

Don't think the game sold many consoles, but it always looked pretty fun to me. At least to poke around in for a while. So good news I guess. Wonder how MS will handle Xbox-PC next gen. If they will merge more.

A mediocre game released 4 years late... Lucky us for PC gamers! Also, bring it to Steam if you can MS. I will revisit Sunset Overdrive cause the last time I played it on Xbox One, the humor was a turn off for me, but I was always told to play as a female cause it get's better and if that's the case, I will do that.

Insomniac has already said there isn't going to be a sequel. They made it pretty clear that MS has no interest in a sequel because the game didn't sell to their expectations.

Appears to be mindlessly boring and repetitive. Pass.

I think this is good. The game needs more platforms, it went a little wasted on the Xbone I think, it deserves a wider audience.

I had fun with it on the Xbox. Hope it comes to PC.

Insomniac might make SSOD2 maybe a reveal soon. I'd rather then make a new marvel open world game though. Or DC.

Might check it out if it is around ~30 dollars, but I didn't really care about it at release, I don't really care about it now.

Sunset overhype sucked. One of the worst games I played this gen.

Insomniac needs to stick to franchises they don’t own because any time they are allowed to make their own stuff, it turns out bad.

Cross play pc/xbox for Chaos Squad would be great. Most fun ive had with Co-op this gen. The weapon/amp combos are nice to add different effects to weapons for crazy outcomes. I still jump on once in awhile on the weekends to play Chaos Squad and its always a blast.

Hopefully we see x1x enhancement as well.

@HalcyonScarlet: It can also take advantage of crossplay for Chaos Squad which would be a nice boost for the player base.

I haven't played the game in years but that bolded part would motivate me to give it another spin. :D

I need concrete examples and statistics on cows consensually agreeing that old exclusives don't matter anymore.

I have it on X1 but I stopped playing it because I was not feeling the frame rate and crazy blur. I will definitely give it another go on PC with a higher frame rate and hopefully an option to turn off the blur.

This is a great game. Too bad it never came to PS4 since insomniac is so closely affiliated with the PlayStation brand. Will we ever see a sequel?

That's just sad. Sunset Overdrive is practically a church compared to what else is out there. It contains very few sex jokes, zero actual nudity and monsters that squirt out orange Fanta instead of blood.

Awesome, game deserves 60fps gameplay!

Always felt kind of off with it being 30fps and so dependent on smooth motion and transitions through the environment.

Please be true, 4K/60 for this game would be amazing.

That's good. I bought it for my X1 back in the day, but a PC release would open it up to more people. It was a fun game.

Fun game and deserved to be played by more people. In the end I think Insomniac made this simply as a bargaining tool with Sony to entrust them with a more ambitious project, and they got Spider-Man out of it, much better direction for their talents after being pushed to do the Resistance series last gen. So, not just a great game, but an effective power play.

So streaming a blocky version of Bloodborne at 720p with high input lag is the same as actually running the game live on your personal hardware and whatever frame rate and resolution you desire?

Still the same game

That's like saying Doom 3 and Half Life 2 on the OG Xbox are the same game....

But Bloodborne on the PS4 and on PS Now IS the same game
