Sure, it's nice to dream about a streaming only future, but it's financially unfeasible at today's subscription prices. There's only four ways streaming only future for gaming and tv shows and movies can work.

1. Tons of micro-transactions

2. Tons of advertisements

3. Much higher subscription rates.

4. Producing PS2 era games and pass them along as new games or only South Park style movies and tv shows,

Now, before you point out the success of Netflix and Hulu, please allow me to point out the fact that the vast majority of the TV shows and movies ALREADY made the bulk of their money before even going on to Netflix. The Netflix exclusives, on the other hand, are either funded by other parties, such as Netflix themselves or certain science foundations, or are cheaper to make, akin to the cost of shows such as south park and such.

Even a streaming service with $20 per month rate shared between 400 movies and with 20 million subscribers, it'd take a movie, game, or tv show with a production cost of 50 million dollars approximately 50 months, or nearly five years just to break even!

I'm sure they are sitting there doing the preliminary work to figure out how to screw us over in the most maximum way possible.

Worry not, younglin.

If it was financially unfeasible, companies wouldn't be joining the party in droves. You're using prior services and costs to criticize future ones. The problem with that is many of those issues are contingent upon factors that may not apply anymore. We only know pieces of those factors, the companies know the whole picture. Many things "aren't feasible" until they are, because innovating companies have done the legwork to make it so.

I agree there will be a transition period where things won't be ideal, but no company is deranged enough to invest loads of cash into a project that isn't going to appeal to their potential customers.

No, it's not. A streaming only future is not a dream, it's a nightmare that would be terrible for gamers. I hope it never happens.

Seems these dayzz if gamers had nothing to whine and complain and carry on about they'd have nothing to say at all. :P

What, did people think Xcloud or Stadia would be gamepass prices? Nope, AAA budget is way too much.
