Always fun reading SC posters with their "it's a fraud/no release dates/doesn't exist" and yet, are they telling the truth or all they BS? Only time will tell.

But anyway, CitizenCon has ended its 2021. This was an extremely humble CitizenCon and kinda felt like a personal touch to the community. Rather than ice sculptures Cloud Imperium spent time and money on showing us alot of the inner workings of development and I would much rather have this from this point out and not all that in-person. I need to get back into SC at some point if I wasn't so busy with all of these games have been releasing.

Who seriously cares about SC at this point? Unless you've already invested a ton of money into it (very stupid if you ask me), there is no reason to care about a title that won't come out of beta by 2030.

I know I will catch a lot of flack for this, but I'm a big fan of the game. Probably has to do with the fact I didn't dump hundreds of dollars (let alone thousands) into it so the risk for me is low, but even in its alpha build I enjoy it more than pretty much all AAA games.

Hell, I've played more Star Citizen in the last week than I have Far Cry 6.

As for release date, well, yeah that pisses me off. Would be nice to have Squadron 42 at this point and a release date for Star Citizen itself

I care. Sort of. I just really like simulations, especially space sims and flight sims.

I mean I still hope it comes out, but I've more or less given up expecting or demanding a release date...it's done when it is done.

Star Citizen is none the less one of the most impressive pieces of game software I have ever seen. It might not be finished, but good god it's amazing.

But as I said above, it'd be nice if we got a finished product in the next couple years. I don't pay for them to develop and develop alone; I pay because I want a finished product at some point.

I'll need to watch the footage, but it's nice hearing it was a bit humbler. Maybe they're actually listening to us.

As soon as they release the game I will care about what they have to say. But not before that.

When the game is released next year all this hate is gonna come back to bite.

I like space games as well (not even necessary a sim), but its pretty clear to me, and has been for a long time that this game will never be truly released. In the years to come, the game will be in its pre release stage for so long, that even if they never officially launch the game, nobody will care in 4 years from now. Its like an engine showoff with good looking ships that give some people a hard-on. They fund a way to monitize a game that is nowhere near complete, and they will do so until the cash cow is completely dry.

The fact that what we have is so good is why I want Squadron 42 so bad.

At least Metroid Dread can stave me off for the time being.

Looks great except for some of the shadow resolutions and the dithering in the clouds is distracting. The death animations are silly as well. Needs proper rag doll. The optimization is also shit. Fucking stutterfest.

Too bad the game will never come out.

Surprisingly people been posting they played the alpha (or beta, whatever) and said it feels great and you can travel to cities and space stations. Maybe the game does exist but also probably will never be released if the funding never stops.

Looks like my future grandchild will have the honor of playing this game instead of me it seems😔 But that's okay, I was once told "plant the seeds for tomorrow" and give something for the next-generation and so with that, I leave my gaming legacy behind for the youth🙂

@sakaixx: i guess they think "as long as we dont release it, they will continue to fund it". Thats the reason they don't do like elite dangerous and release it in parts.

At this point they are no longer game devs, they are just game trailer company.

Iv been playing and enjoying it, cant wait for 3.15 the game already delivers for space game fans and its still only in Alpha.

I have given up this fake and fraud game long ago.

The issue is that it takes them as much time to get to alpha as other developers need to release a full game, two dlc packs and a sequel.

By the time they get to beta, will have literally seen 8 more assassin's creeds.

And then they will say: its great for a beta!

The game left pre-alpha years ago, a game cant be in testing and be in pre-alpha the pre means before the alpha which is a testing phase. You never played it to begin with but you do you, ill continue to enjoy it because I can.

because SQ42 is single payer campaign of SC. it was only thing I was interested in it until I gave up.

Funny you mention Starfield, a game at least 8 year in dev with still no alpha or even any gameplay shown. You made a thread listing all the things you can (and cant) do in Starfield not that long ago, you can already do those things in the SC alpha, go figure.

SC Alpha > Starfield.

Starfield developers are not asking our money unlike star citizen developers. its been in development and now has release date to be release by the end of next year and perhaps its going to be biggest game of 2022.

by that time star citizen will remain in alpha and single player SQ42 will still missing in action.

It will be fully released as an alpha, and (maybe) some point in 2-3 years down the line , make it to beta. It's the Bethesda way.

Get the usual free pass from game journos. Fake review scores, trick the younglings into thinking it's good.
