New STALKER; Shadow of Chernobyl Mod;

Well here is proof, if proof were needed, why Mods for PC games are much touted. STALKER; shadow of chernobyl compleate 2009 combines and refines many leading STALKER mods and overhauls pretty much every visual aspect. A great game just got better. Here is the Site, and a recent feature by kotaku. The Mod simply looks stunning, cheak out the tread in the Shadow od cherbobyl forum for more details/support.

It looks amazing for a modders effort, the game looked pretty sweet anyway. It DOES look better than any console game, just look at the new texture work coupled with the full dynamic lighting.

installed it a few weeks ago when it was first released. though I patched it to the latest version today. I'm as far as the first underground bit - have to say, its a great mod. I also tried merging it with Oblivion Lost a while back.... surprisingly, despite some inventory icon bugs. It worked :shock: But I rathered the 2009 mod changes - OL's Garbage bandit spam, like in standard SoC was enough for me to revert back.

Motion blur = coward's way out of crappy graphics. All it does is hide all the jagged edges (no AA FTW!!!) and the visual imperfections (*cough* Killzone 2 *cough*). So go ahead, say it out loud, KZ2 HAZ BETTARAR GRAFIX!

I'm not saying KZ2 has POS graphics because every game has visual imperfections, but sayin KZ2 beats a modern PC game? No way.

YES everybody knows that PC>ALL why do you have to keep reminding us.

The only reason that makes ALL>PC are exclusive games.

If all games becomes available on pc I'll probably throw my consoles away.

Modern Motion blur has practically no FPS drop, Source uses the same type of motion blur and it has almost no FPS impact.

Objects motion blur is not used to crysis. It was only ever used in the 2006 tech demo. It uses SCREEN MOTION BLUR, same as source and KZ. Ironically the vanilla verison of STALKER DOES have an option for objects motion blur which drops the FPS.

I've played the vanilla STALKER before and some of the "levels"(for lack of better word) are downright CREEPY. I would stop in the middle of one, save and just look out the window to see people milling about :D Now that this patch makes the game look so much better, i can't imagine whats it like to go through them again...

Nearly every conversation involving STALKER usually makes reference to those audio loop triggers. I'm still trying to work out if its a bugged trigger radius, or the programmers simply didnt tell the audio track to play once on entry.

Yup I noticed the footsteps and harmonica. Also stealth is actually possible now - I managed to conceal myself and sneak up behind a few bandits, and audio is different for bullets bouncing off different surfaces. Its great The Garbage bandit spam is removed - and bandits are easier to kill, instead of taking huge amounts of body shots with poor armour. Oh Bloodsuckers take more damage now too, and are textured differently - now they are even more of a threat, which is very awesome. Oh and it continues after beating the game, or you can skip straight past the ending when you start a new game... Whats great as it removes all scripts and the enviroment becomes *completely dynamic* powered entirley by A-Life, so areas once owned by a faction can be overrun and fought over. Awesome, so awesome.

Yes, but not that much. you will need at least 512 mb of vram for new textures but apart from that runs very well.

I don't care what effects are used in KZ2. If i think it looks better than STALKER, Then i don't care about technical blah blah....

Oh yeah I mean that's just what makes up the graphics, technical prowess pffft. Well if you just convince yourself of that then there is no talking to you is there, you don't care if it actually has better graphics.

I look at both games and KZ2 just looks better IMO. It's probably cause of a different art direction.
