Wow, I think the hype was like a 7 but a 2/10? That's one of the lowest scores in years. FLOP.
A nostalgia trip that nobody should pack their bags for.
Don't really care about its hype thread rather it exists or not.
IGN gave it a 5/10, it's average at best. I stop watching Spongebob cartoon as soon as Avatar: The Last Airbender ended its season finale and I don't know if Spongebob is still popular or not. Either way, I had fun playing Battle for Bikini Bottom back on PS2 good old days, this clearly didn't need a remaster.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated gets bad review score from GameSpot lolz.
I don't even care about the TV show and his video games lolz.
Plus WreckFest on PC/Xbox One/PS4 is a much better Demolition Derby game than SpongeBob Boating Bash on Wii/DS lolz.
@davillain-: Spongebob is still popular, even a new movie coming out this year (well maybe this year).
I...didn't know Spongebob was getting a new movie. I had to look that up and even I wasn't aware Keanu Reeves will be in it. After all this time, it's still popular.
Jesus I'm getting old.
There are ads all over this site for the game too. That should disprove any conspiracy theory...
I'd assume it would for a big release versus a remake of a minuscule game. I'd hope there's a severe disjoint in marketing money between games of a different caliber.
BTW, i'm not stating that this is an absolute, or that it could be outright wrong.
Poor lads went viral. Not helping himself with juvenile response.
The old "anyone criticizing or laughing at me is a big harrassments!"
Goes with saying WTF was he expecting?
Ha, had no idea. Must suck to suck, time to check this shit out.
While I'm no advocate for these low-budget licensed games from several gens ago, I'm taken aback by how bad this review is, I almost feel bad for the game.
It never looked like anything revolutionary, but a 2/10? That's almost as low as Big Rigs, and that one is a genuinely broken game, which this game does not appear to be broken.
It seems like this game actually has a fanbase among casual players and Spongebob fans.
It's not a game I'll ever bother to play but the game seems competent and the 2/10 seems very harsh for a professional review.
@uninspiredcup: The game is probably mediocre but not a 2/10. That to me should be reserved for games broken. I recognize this game has a fanbase. A lot of people seemed to be looking forward to this one and I don't think people would be that way if the game was broken.
It's funny how we can see how unprofessional Gamespot reviews have become even for below average games their reviews are off the mark.
What justice happened? Fill me in, I'm not aware what's going on.
The best reviews are ones where they spend 70% complaining about colonialism.
We need to be more socially aware in bleak times of suffering and strife.
It's up to game journalists to take up the baton and coddle us like child attached to a mothers teet, nourishing us with their wisdoms.
I'm planning on picking it up, especially after reading Scott the Woz's impression on Twitter. I prefer classic Spongebob seasons (which end up relating to me with age with the Krusty Krab episodes) myself and I enjoyed the movie game on GameCube quite a bit.
I saw it coming. To me, this was a remaster done poorly. The art direction doesn't resemble the show anymore, the additional content added to the game was little more than the inclusion of meme faces, and they missed out on a chance to bring in Clancy Brown to dub over Mr Krabs.
If you want to play the definitive version of this game, stick with the XBOX port.
