Sony snowflake regulations causing games to be redesigned from ground up...Sony PlayStation is now the kiddy console...

This is worst than Nintendo because back then there was no body of people who regulated shit, but that is why the ESRB was created, and despite them being ones who are suppose to safeguard children from harm, Sony is taking upon themselves to censor games beyond normalcy, talking lunacy.

In fact, we already know of games censored on PS4 but not Switch at Sony's request, and now making people completely censor their whole game despite Nintendo completely fine with original form. Switch has no problems despite Nintendo's still family oriented company values. The only thing that's changed is that Sony's new corporate values are all now anti-consumer and abuse power.

I hate to sound doom and cliche, but compared to the rest, they are what Nintendo was in 90's, the lame kiddie console, yet in 90's PlayStation was hip and cool, and it sucks that Nintendo is more cool than PlayStation, say that out loud, Nintendo is more hip, more cool and way more accepting of mature content than Sony PlayStation.

Not to mention, Sony doesn't want you playing on Xbox or Switch, despite fact Xbox and Switch are becoming even closer pals with Xbox set to announce Xbox Live on Switch at GDC, not to mention you earn achievements in Minecraft on Switch, not to mention all the crossplay games between them. Even Xbox taken it even further by completely integrating their Xbox onto a PC so consumers have a choice.

When Steam started telling people no more sexy games, there was backlash and soon changed mind and let people put their games there. Sony doesn't give a shit about its users or else they would do the same thing.

If what Sony does is cool, and what people want in a PS5, then count me out. I rather be a loser with Switch and naked anime chicks and play my Xbox games on Switch and PC.

In this case, Senran Kagura 7 is suppose to be exclusive and as anyone can see playing a Sony exclusive, they all have that snowflake sensibilities, which is what they are pushing onto this game, and what's lame about all of it, we're not talking localization for just Americans who love guns but not boobs, but they ruining the Japanese games for Japanese, who have complete opposite sensibilities I.E. boobs good, guns bad.

Thinking about the issue of censorship, I can now understand why it is wrong. The main reason that nothing is learned from censoring things and censorship will eventually be ineffective in eliminating the things being censored. The censored things will be driven underground and thrive somewhere else where it is not subjected to censorship.

This kind of censorship is very shitty but consoles are as good as toys that lots of kids play on. We wouldn't put violent and naked images up in the kids park so why allow that on consoles? Oh yeah, because it effects you. The rating system is really only there to protect the publisher, they know that adults will still buy age restricted games for their kids, that isn't going to change any time soon but if you have any better ideas then you'll probably make a lot of money if one of them is a good one that works for all.

I understand Sony’s reasoning and their elective decision to disassociate themselves with certain content. Requiring censorship, however, is not the proper remedy, IMO.

I hope the market adapts and engineers a solution, whether that be curating a separate content platform or devising a distribution process that manufacturers deem acceptable.

Sony is publishing plenty of games that can easily be considered censorable content (somewhere).

PC gaming is huge in Japan now! (unstoppable PC growth continue)

According to Famitsu, Japan now has 15 million PC gamers, a massive growth of 80% in just the last year. It's not too far behind the total number of console players (23 million, including handhelds) and already larger than the PS4 install base.

Seems like there are a lot of Japanese gamers who dislike the idea of Sony shoving American morals down their throats ("sexualized cartoons are disgusting, but extreme mass-murder violence porn is fuckin' awesome!") are turning their backs on the PS4 and jumping ship to the Switch and PC.

Well... that, and I think more importantly it's insane in the first place to decide what somebody else (who you do not know) will be able to play or watch or read. We, including Sony, do not have authority over what other people are allowed to think. And deciding what a person is allowed to see, is a direct (and as you point out often ineffective) attack on what the people are allowed to consider, to think. It's none of their/our business to meddle in what adults choose to enjoy (with only the most extreme cases like murder and other things in law, and practical reasons like page limitations in a newspaper being exceptions, and Sony is not in a position to write laws).

I understand it's *their* platform, but that mustn't mean they can control their customers or developers like that. IMO they are way out of bounds, in terms of ethical reasoning. (And so is Nintendo and MS when they do these things.) I can understand them giving developers advise, but I don't like the idea of them enforcing ideologies on the industry/the people like some kind of authority on censorship.

Yeah but they allow people to release the same game with basic censorship and studio sites offer patches to make it original. PS4 is making people change the game before release. Steam use to censor games, now it happily allows fully nude/sex titles (see Love Vibe: Aria) They remove questionable age games with sex or heavily implied sex. Essentially "loli" games. A few sometimes get through the net, but if Valve becomes aware of it, they are gone.

And why wouldn't they? as a Steam user, and i'm sure pretty much everyone who isn't insane here agrees, I don't want that shit on the service.

There's abit of a distinction here between "being an overly zealous snowflake" and "not wanting pederfile content".

Everyone agrees there needs to be some form of censorship for the things people create, cause people can think up some truly disgusting things. Not everyone is going to agree on where the line should be drawn and unless you're willing to go down the abyss of morals of what is right and wrong it's better to ere on the side of restraint than unrestrictiveness.
